Re: Hi from Oxfordshire
Wanker County was purchased from the Indians, whose name for Wanker county was "Obi luba possa wadamy" which means "Land of the big, gassy Possum."

Re: Hi from Oxfordshire
It's from the Old English "Ramm" and "Botm" meaning 'valley of the ram'. When a country retains the original inhabitants names for places, they evolve into modern equivalents. There's a surname that you also have in the USA - Ramsbotham, meaning people who come from that valley. ...

Re: Hi from Oxfordshire
Hi John. Sorry I missed you post - thanks for it. It's a wonderful forum, and as result I now have 2 Jack 12 Lites which are tremendous- and light! Their lightness also extends to the amp required, which is 1 u and 3 kg. Next up two T39s with 3012's. What's your band's name, and I'll come and see you.

Re: T39 20"
I expect you've seen this, on page one of the T39 building notes: "The 3010LF Vd 305cc, so it runs about 4dB louder than the BP102 or Delta 12 LF. The Lab 12 Vd (&12c) is 659cc, so it’s equivalent to three BP102 or Delta 12LF, justifying its weight and price. When comparing various drivers ...

Re: T39 20"
Thanks Tom. I was thinking about 24 inch using the Lab 12, which displaces 659cc so is over 2x that of the 3012LF although 3 times heavier... Bill talks very firmly about displacement being the critical factor, so I'm still not sure about judging how wide to make the T39s so as not to over-match my ...

Re: T39 20"
I'm wondering what the optimum width would be for use with Jack 12 Lites - using the subs to take up all the bottom end load. I definitely re-think my intention to make 24's. But if anyone has words of wisdom regarding this, gratefully received. It would be pointless to lug around 24's or 20's if I'...

Re: T39 20"
Thanks for this thread, which I'm really enjoying. Still trying to decide how wide to go. I'd thought of 24 inches. My Jack 12 Lites are very loud, and don't need subs for most of my gigs (live band). So my logic was to match the subs to the optimal width of T39 so that when they are used the system...

Re: Woodcutting - CAD Files from SketchUp? Or other sources?
I've done a T39 cut out plan - it's in Excel, using three 4x8 sheets for two 24' wide cabs.
I hope this sounds right to you guys.
I used the free demo facility for http://www.optimalon.com/ which was very easy to use.
If anyone would like me to send them the file, please let me know. Thanks

Re: Sitting Room Build: Jack 12 Lite
Your SMPS observation fits with my experience; the DMM was cycling through about five voltages that were more or less the same for each attenuator setting. Only when I set the tone generator to 1khz and left it for a bit did the DMM reading settle to a definite and expected sort of voltage, which I ...

[quote]Sorry for being presumptuous; the AFS has caused quite a few headaches for some of the folks around here, and it seemed like the same symptom./quote] Don't worry Ryan. Grateful for your help. I'd disconnected the dbx several times, turned everything off at least twice, and there'd been previo...

Re: Sitting Room Build: Jack 12 Lite
Everything's off on the dbx - and back to unhooking the dbx and going direct from desk to power amp, the same half second voltage changes :wall: But now it works OK using a 1khz sine wave.... So now - hooray - I've set it to limit to just under 40V, which in the dbx display shows as a reduction of 1...

Re: Sitting Room Build: Jack 12 Lite
So..... I tried agin using 1khz sine wave, and this time got a stable reading. I know what the power amp vol control positions for the two channels at that level. But now with the DBX connected, I can't get a stable voltage reading.... Hmmm, having turned off all the functions of the DBX, still gett...

Re: Sitting Room Build: Jack 12 Lite
Yet more inexperience at work... Having made up an NL4 as suggested, my voltmeter is marching quite rhythmically through a series of 4 or five readings the median of which increases as I turn up the amp. I'm inputting a 30hz sine wave and reading in V DC. When I did this before with the speakers con...
