Re: TLAH and curved SLA

No, that last picture is how they got installed.

In the updated plans it talks about not going larger than a 4 inch driver unless using square drivers. I have a calibration mic now so I'll run some tests and post some graphs soon. Carpet guy is coming tomorrow.

Re: TLAH and curved SLA

Blast from the past! This was my TLAH and curved SLA build back in the day. I have now moved to a new home and an ever changing theater room is taking shape. I was planning to covert my curved SLA to a TLAH (it's behind the screen now). I've read through the updated plans and I'm starting to c...

Re: TLAH 7-8' away and misc. home theater questions

Check out the info online about Auro 3D and using the Auro 3D layout for atmos. Auro 3D gives you several options but it's basically a regular surround system at ear level (0 degrees) then a second layer at about 30 degrees. A third layer can be added (but doesn't have to be) directly overhead if yo...

Re: Under Garage Home Theater Build

The theater rebuild is coming along. Cabinets are hung, no lacquer yet. I have the riser mostly finished. The first level is 14", second level is 21" - just enough to clear the THTLP. The first level is built with 2x6's spaced 16" oc and spanned 7.5 feet. Every joint and surface is gl...

Re: THTLP Build

Yes, we're getting some pretty cold temps here lately. If you were to track my activity on this forum I'm guessing you would find some "peaks" in the winter and some "nulls" in the summer. Good article Bill... now I'm interested in taking some measurements and only moving t...

Re: THTLP Build

Sure, no problem. Right now I can only get about 10 feet into the room. I'll measure it when the usb extension cord shows up.

Re: THTLP Build

They are 17" wide with 8 inch drivers. The THT sounds quite a bit louder though. I think I read somewhere that for every 10db it will sound or be perceived as twice as loud. I'm pretty happy with how all three of them work together though. I'm going to be setting up a mini dsp soon and messing ...

Re: THTLP Build

The mic showed up tonight. I've never used one and I need to pick up an extension cord. This is measured from about 5 feet off the back wall. The graph has one line for each... TT1, TT2, THT, then all three together.

Re: Slim THTLP

If you haven't built panel 6 you might consider mounting the driver with a plate like the high excursion driver instructions (like AntonZ mentioned above). My panel 6 cut out ended up a little large because my router circle jig is homemade. I didn't realize the nail I was using for the center point ...

Re: THTLP Build

I'll mess around with the phase knobs on the amps and see what happens. We were running both TT's together, I should probably try them one at a time. Honestly, it's something that I've never noticed until the THT was chugging away in the back of the room. WOW! :loler: I have a mic and a mini dsp on ...

Re: THTLP Build

We watched some music videos last night and we were messing around switching between the THTLP and the two TT's. The THT seems to produce a much cleaner bass. One of the videos had a nice hip hop/rap bass line that when from a high bass to a mid bass to a low bass. The higher bass line and mid bass ...

Re: Under Garage Home Theater Build

It's all taped, textured, and painted now. It got framed 24" oc when the rest of the basement did, I didn't even think of it at the time. 24" is pretty standard for cold walls in a basement around here. They're all anchored to the concrete foundation in the middle. I still get some movemen...

Re: Under Garage Home Theater Build

I'll glue them together really good and anchor them with some large hex head screws. I probably should have put my wall studs 16" or 12" oc in that room. The sheetrock vibrates a bit between the 24" oc studs.

Re: Under Garage Home Theater Build

I'm installing a row of upper cabinets against the ceiling along the back wall this weekend. They're 20"x20" mounted just below the ceiling the full width of the room. I'll glue them together with PL when I assemble them. All the equipment including the projector will be moved there to all...
