Re: Grille mounting.
...Did you add gasket or some dampening along the unsupported edges of the grille? Nothing added to the grill edges. they are solid and don't touch anything. I only notched out sections on the top and bottom to make room for the tweeter horns edges. (the grill's back foam actually sits flush agains...

Re: A reintroduction and back to building.
I'm actually working on a book. There was his suicide attempt, followed by the mandatory Baker-acting (72 hour involuntary psychiatric hold) a couple weeks before his arrest. I picked him up at the hospital on a Saturday morning at 10:30am. We were set up and playing at 3pm. And then there was the ...

A reintroduction and back to building.
I used to hang out here quite a bit some 5 or 6 years ago. Lots has changed/happened since then. I never got around to building the DR's I wanted to build, but I did manage to knock out some T39 subs. Back then, I was playing keys with a Trop-Rock band that was gigging in various formats (duo to a f...

Re: Outdoor Surround Sound System
BTW - I love the idea of a 'movie in the park', especially since you are taking the sound part of the presentation seriously...JSS They do something similar at the Beach here during summer months. There's a little amphitheater-ish stage where they place the screen. Families bring blankets and lawn ...

Maybe there's another way to do this, too. My bass head has a -15dB input alongside the 0dB input. I could set my rig up as normal, wherein the bass guitar signal goes through the compressor and EQ (and sometimes DI) before hitting the bass head input. Then I take the aux send from the kick and plu...

I'd not put bass and kick through the same compressor, or even through the same preamp. If you're running into a bass head of some kind, could you go out the preamp out or FX loop out, into the board, put it and the kick into the aux send returning to power in/FX in? Struggling a bit with this ... ...

Ahh. everybodies dissing my X stands. I like them but now you guys are getting me thinking. I think no paint will stick to this and be sturdy enough to survive regular setup-teardown and transport. That's why I suggested hanging some black fabric, just like they do in hotels to make regular tables ...

Internal bracing idea?
As a disclaimer, I've been known to build the occasional cigar box guitar and my favorite fretless bass is made of predominately "reclaimed wood" put together by Steve Wishnevsky. So anyway, I'm trying to cut costs anywhere I can. Is it feasible to use the plethora of broken drumsticks I h...
