Quick question on Voltage, Amp and Signal

You can calculate and test your amplifiers to limit them, if you don't have some kind of limiter in your PA rig. V=squareroot(W x R). To find the AC voltage for the maximum output you require from your amp, take the watts, say 400, multiply by the resistance of your speakers, say 8 ohms, then take ...

Re: W10 in progress

I curently have a board of 6 by 10 inch I was going to place it on one side but im thinking of cuting it in half and then put on board on each side instead. Look at your Sketchup. It shows one on the side near the back and top and another on the opposite side. Edit: Little late to the party :) gues...

Re: W10 in progress

I am now a believer! Last night (late night around 1am, I am now working on 3 hours of sleep  ) I wired one of my W10 and I really, really liked it sounded. I powered it with about 15-20V and it sounded loud with recorded music. The melded array is in series/parallel which I’m glad about it b...

Re: The journey begins.. 16 T60's and 12 DR280's!!

Maybe the Jack 12 array is different but the plans say make all cuts the lug end, curious as to why you alternated cuts? To make wiring them up easier. All the + terminals are now in a straight line. Same w/the - terminals. I did the same thing with My wedge build not by choice but more by accident...

Re: W10 in progress

Thank you! I will, I still don’t have Duratex and I was planning on using them tomorrow so I might just spray paint them all black for now, do you think that would be ok? Couple more questions, On the piezo wiring what is your preference and why, Parallel or Parallel/Series? Once I have all the wiri...

Re: W10 in progress

The good news is that I am happy with the way the cabs look for my first build, my confidence has been boosted, I cant wait to get these done hopefully th...

Can a DBX 266 XL be used to protect FOH Speakers?

I was wondering if I could use this compressor as alimiter to protect the speaker. The last time I blew a speaker   was about 12 years ago when I started doing the sound for our band, ever since im always extra cautious about cliping and distorsion, I've never used a compressor-limiter f...

Re: W10 in progress

Hello, I'm exited things are looking good: The Speakers are broken, Horns and boxes have been assembled, I will start working on the melded arrays today. My question now is, what are the steps to paint the melded array, what kind of paint should I use, should it be primed? :loler: LOL that was more ...

Re: W10 in progress

an 1/8" is not bad when you are cutting the horn to fit inside the cabinet box. When you install the horn inside the box put a large bead of PL on that side. +1, especially if you use some temporary screws to hold the horn in place with the gap halved to either edge. Thank you, I was really ma...
