Re: Sound dampening foam, is it needed?
Eminence Has a speaker design software program. The software itself is an abomination and even needs the CD rom to function... and only worked on 1 of my 4 PC's... and the support people suck giant donkey balls. Hopefully they wind up reading this... YOU SUCK!!! ...... BIG HAIRY DONKEY BALLS!!! :ch...

Re: Curved SLA build with added jig
OK, lets ask it a different way:
Q. How do you calculate the NOMINAL impedance of a speaker cab that uses a 2 way crossover such as the one in the SLA's?

Re: Curved SLA build with added jig
This is one bit I can't figure out myself mathematically. I'd like an answer as well!modernprimitive wrote:i can follow it all the way up to the crossover. that's where i get lost. i thought you added the impedance of the tweeter array and the driver array together to get the total impedance for the entire cabinet.

Re: Curved SLA build with added jig
it wasn't in the box. :( i just assumed it was an optional item, till i contacted onkyo about how to order one, and they told me it should have come with the 818. so i contacted the company i bought it from, but since enough time had passed, they said that they would not return mine for another uni...

Re: Curved SLA build with added jig
any suggestions on a decent mic as well as a decent spl meter?? I use the checkmate CM-140 SPL meter that also has audio out. I chose it because REW has the calibration files for download. It seems to work well enough for me to get the results I want. I use the mic that came with the 818 for calibr...

Hell no! Never maxed it out. Maybe I should try but would need to wear ear plugs! I suppose it depends on your room.modernprimitive wrote:i'm assuming the answer will be "no", but i meant to ask if you have any issues the 818 running out of power with the sla??

Re: BFM Boombox?
That is so badass, it hurts. Scrapping any internal electronics, this would be a complete DJ setup for about 100 people. You could power it off one, strong amp with a built-in crossover. You would literally have two, maybe three things to wheel into the gig. Thanks for sharing your creation, Ian! G...
