Re: Tuba 60 Largest setup.

Bill, is what you're explaining in reference to Vd? After reading through different Tuba and Titan plans; I think it clicked in relation to multiple driver cabs vs multiple single driver cabs vs permium drivers. And now I think Bruce added to the complex decision making process.

Re: 2x Tuba 30 Build (First Build)

For the jack panel and access panel I use foam weather-stripping that you seal leaks around doors and windows. You can find it in any hardware store. 1 should be plenty but get 2 since it's cheap.

Making grills the caveman way

Got some old drop-ceiling return vent grills off a job that'll be perfect to cover my SLA's with. Just need cutting, shaping and some black paint. I was thinking a metal brake would be ideal. Don't have one, don't wanna buy one, and don't wanna build one. But I could make a box-like frame a bit smal...

Re: Wedding gig advice

Yeah I'm pretty picky about routing cables along the ground so nobody trips and yanks my speakers down. Since it'll be outside in the grass, I might get some metal tent stakes to hold the cords down tight to the ground.

Re: Wedding gig advice

This is a low budget country-themed wedding that a family friend asked me to do for his daughter. The people "running the show" (I use the term loosely) is the bride and her mother-in-law to be. I've made it as clear a possible my needs for this to go smoothly. I'm not sure it's sunk in. I'll have a...

Wedding gig advice

I'll be providing sound for my first paying gig in a few weeks....a wedding  It'll be outside with the ceremony of 100-125 people next to a lake and the reception is in a 30x45 and 30x30 tent (both butted together). To make life easier, I plan on having 2 setups. The first is a small powered ...

What you just described is taking the engine out of a motorcycle. You just made a bicycle.

Re: Roundover tearout repair ?

I've had wood splinter like that while cutting auraco with a circular saw. I find it easier to ease into roundovers on the 1st pass then nice and tight on the 2nd pass. If it's not nice and smooth, I go back around in the opposite direction. Never used bondo, but I will say PL isn't the best option....

I envy your builds, but not all that wiring.

What's the boss think?

Re: SLA Crowd Size specs?

Looks nice. I should've had you build mine. It's been a little thing a day process.

How did you do your grill? I looks really clean. Debating cover mine or leaving them exposed, but being so small the tend to look like bookshelf speakers.

Solder will creep (deform) over time loosening the connection. Compression connections should be bare wire.
🤔 herm?

I'll tell you I hate crimp connections and avoid at all costs for solder and heatshrink. If they make speakon cable connectors with solder tabs, I'll take a dozen.

Re: DIY Rack Patch Panel Q

are these genuine Neutrik Speakon connectors? Or knock-offs? are soldering the ends of the wire and then putting it in the connector and tightening it? If so, that may your problem. The cable connectors are a cheap brand from skywalker av supply which is not far from me. Pretty cheap cables, but yo...

Re: DIY Rack Patch Panel Q

Bruce, they're not pulling out. I've had the screws come loose and cause a bad connection that cut in and out if you wiggled it. I've also cranked down on the screws of a premade cable and had the wire strands break off. Probably because of the strain relief not holding properly. I've soldered all t...

Re: DIY Rack Patch Panel Q

Glad you guys like my crossover. That was always the sloppiest looking part of my builds. Good thing you never see it  Radian, those strain reliefs look pretty cool. Similar to what I've seen in network servers. I'm really confident in my solder abilities, but I've had some of those tiny screw...

Re: DIY Rack Patch Panel Q

I know I like to ask questions and never respond back after I get my answer or give an update, so I'm breaking character and showing you what I came up with. This one is for my smaller setup that can be 2 tops, 1 top + 1 sub, or 2 subs. I think there's more XLR's than need, but I can change it up. I...
