looking for sound guy in southern OK
I wasn't sure where to land this so please excuse me if I have put this in the wrong thread. I'm putting out some feelers to see if there's any BFM system owners that might be interested in doing sound for weekend long electronic music festivals near Ada. My friends did one this weekend and the soun...

Response measurement
I have an RTA mic and REW. I'm curious to know if I correctly understand the process for measuring the response of my subs to create an SPL chart for comparison to other subs. My basic understanding is that I set up my mic 1' away from the sub centered on the driver and then run a sine sweep at 2.83...

gear needed for live sound?
I'm interested in hiring out my PA for small venues / audiences. Right now what I have is two O-top 12s, 4 15" bass reflex subs of my own design, a Crown XLS 1000 for the tops, 2 Crown XLS 2000s for the subs, and a Driverack for all my processing / EQ / limiting. I have used this rig for outdoo...

Re: Pair of OTop 12s with Delta Pros
Congrats on successfully completing your OTops! They take longer to build than you initially think they will...at least that's how it was for me. The end result is all that matters. Two questions for you. 1. Are your stands collapsible (do they come apart for transport?). It doesn't appear that the...

Re: Pair of OTop 12s with Delta Pros
Yes, a day of psytrance indeed! One of the best aspects of the party is that we had the system pretty much facing the track for the miniature train that goes through the park and it was a busy day with packed trains going by all day. Some of the train-riders just stared with some noticeable slack ja...

Re: Pair of OTop 12s with Delta Pros
I finished the pair, finally, a while back but haven't gotten around to posting pics. http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p799/nivlem37/pics053_zps24966bd7.jpg?t=1399424827 The finished pair with one of my cats giving it the inspection and another coming along to provide a second opinion. http://i13...

Re: Pair of OTop 12s with Delta Pros
Second one is coming along nicely. I figured out from the first one that it makes sense to put the convoluted foam in the hard to get to areas before attaching the sides.

http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p799/nivlem37/pics017_zpsb2c46817.jpg?t=1394501734 One down and I'm about 3/4 of the way through the second one. I'm pretty happy with how the first one has turned out. Rounding the edges was a piece of cake after reading about it on this forum, watching some you...

Re: Pair of OTop 12s with Delta Pros
You know what they'd call that pace in Washington D.C.? Record time! :hyper: Ha! I have heard this to be true. I'm just honestly irritated with the growth of Austin and the city's terrible approach to infrastructure but I know traffic is worse elsewhere. This is most likely the cause in many places...

Re: Pair of OTop 12s with Delta Pros
I appreciate the info and it helps me have a better understanding of how they function now, basically making the back panel more rigid. I had every intention of getting the first top functional yesterday evening and then it took me over an hour to make the 15 mile drive home from work in Austin traf...

Re: 2 x 27" Tuba 30
Those are looking good. I'm doing the reverse of your approach. I'm in the middle of building a pair of Omnitops and will build a pair of T 30s next... or 4 if I'm feeling ambitious enough and have the funds.

Re: Pair of OTop 12s with Delta Pros
Thanks, I'm getting very close to finishing the first one and have already begun cutting pieces for the second. This was brand new territory for me and I like the results so far. I am glad that I'm doing a sequential rather than parallel build, hoping the second one will go much quicker with knowled...

Getting closer to the completion of the first one. http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p799/nivlem37/pics003_zpsf05bd9ed.jpg?t=1392515148 Top added http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p799/nivlem37/pics005_zps55478577.jpg?t=1392515013 Compound angles on throat reflector.
