Re: Funky Town Sound System

Also, don't be afraid to play around with toe-in for the tops. I find I often get better results with a decent amount of toe-in.

Try imagining you're in a hall, and aiming the tops at what would be the diagonally opposite corner.

Re: Funky Town Sound System

( Dispersion is inversely proportional to the width of the array! ) Note that this applies all the more so to tops. As you've set up, the tops will only have about 10-20 deg coverage per box, The increased distance between sources, and the loss of line array behaviour will cause all kinds of unwant...

Re: Funky Town Sound System

I'd look at doing something like this: https://scontent-syd1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/1504018_777463472279283_1810971675_n.jpg?oh=072ed9d6a8fb10091c3c90f86d111256&oe=58834BA4 But stack the tops vertically on the outermost 2 high subs rather than fly them. This gets the tops working together as th...

Re: Warehouse party, 6 T30's, 2 OT12's

Boyd, Interesting. Please read the responses regarding release times in DCX's, in my "how to set up a DCX" thread some time back. Those responses are somewhat polar to yours: http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=20833&start=15 Feel free to comment on same, and I'l...

Re: Warehouse party, 6 T30's, 2 OT12's

One of the key things with limiting (with respect to thermal protection) that few seem to ever mention, is limiter release time. A fast release time is fine for peak limiting to protect against over excursion, but can actually exacerbate the thermal issues by acting as a crude compressor, and increa...

Re: New BFM Folded Horn?

I don't see the point when the iphone has a headphone output. But perhaps connecting the headphone out to a high sensitivity fullrange driver in a miniature rear loaded horn? Nah, you'd never get enough path length and mouth area in a small box to make any bass, but still - would be interesting to s...

Re: Pair Jack12L's and T30's - Bolton's Big Day Out

Here's a few videos from today's big day out. Indeed it was for me - first time both subs have been used together, since being built 18 months ago. A few setting up issues - i don't do it often enough. What threw me was a mate bringing a different mixer and the limiting set-up proved too much for m...

Re: Effect of low QTS in bass horns?? Vas for dual loaded cabs??

Thanks Bill.

Yeah I was a bit suspect of that graph too. Just interesting as the specs were so unusual.

How about dual loaded Vas?

Effect of low QTS in bass horns?? Vas for dual loaded cabs??

I'm pretty sure Bill has mentioned before than drivers with high QTS will have reduced low bass when horn loaded, but what is the effect of low QTS (~0.2) in a FLH? While the effects of QTS in sealed & ported boxes seem to be pretty well explained across the interweb, I've found little specifics...

Re: First time use of 4 T-48's

Sounding good, but damn, those house lights suck! It's like daylight in there - that would so not work in any of the venues where I live. I think he said he took the video after the party was over and the lights came on. It would have been too dark to video before then. Ah, that makes sense. Our ve...

Re: Folded TLAH Pro?

Hmm. So you're wanting a shorter speaker than the 70" TLAH and it sounds like you're wanting deep(er) bass. My ideal speaker would feature the following atributes: * Slim(ish) floorstanding format (with acceptable stability) * Enough height (just) for decent coverage over a seated audience of ...

Re: Folded TLAH Pro?

The useage would primarily be for seated audience at outdoor wedding ceremonies. Currently using a pair of QSC K12's on the ground. Stands are absolutely not an option for this setup. There is a very fine balance here between coverage & visual intrusiveness. The goal is something that would be j...

Folded, as in a folded transmission line path. All drivers on front baffle as per usual.
