Re: laminating multiple large sheets of plywood
Thanks for the input guys! After looking at butcher block tops, going with laminated baltic birch sounded downright cheap! Looks like 3/4" MDF is running $34 a sheet locally. Is there much concern about swelling with spilled liquids, or at this price range, do just replace the top if/when it sw...

laminating multiple large sheets of plywood
Greetings, I'm toying with the idea of making some wall mounted fold down workbenches for the garage, around 48x32 & was thinking of building up to 1.5" thickness by gluing/laminating multiple sheets of ply. I have a nice flat surface to construct on (5'x9' stone tables) and 2000lb bags of ...

Re: XF212 1 of 3, "vintage tweed"
Thanks! I've been playing with my Line 6 X3 through a poweramp with a channel for each XF212, sitting between two of them spaced as far apart as my cables & clutter will allow. Its been a pretty fun experience, especially with some of the modulation/reverb effects, much like a 412 set of (noise ...

Re: AutoTuba build. This is the last time...
If you have checked the cab thoroughly and no leaks are apparent, then it might be that there is a leak (and a major one by looking at the number) near the inner coil which is right next to the throat. How does one go about finding & remedying that situation? Just finished up Autotuba #...

Re: Best way to to remove duratex?
Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm willing to try anything as stripping/sanding these sounds like as much fun as a colonoscopy. At the time of the incident (>1.5 years ago), I spoke with Acrytech & was told that if the water isnt out of the paint before the solvents, that full cure will never be ...

Best way to to remove duratex?
Greetings, has anyone tried to remove duratex before? My custom colored O15's never fully cured (my fault, too cold), and I think I'd at least have to knock down the bulk of the soft duratex before I put anything else on.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: What brought you here?
I found this site after buying the Eminence Designer CD/program & not being pleased with the plots that more "conventional" setups (410, 810, 115) produced even when using quality speakers. I wanted to build my own so I could sell off my Ampeg stack before it got beatup from hauling. I...

Re: XF212 1 of 3, "vintage tweed"
Thanks! I put the first coat of Seal Coat on #3 tonight, hopefully I'll have it done by the end of the year. I find that I sorta like the smell of shellac, Poly, not so much..... (low WAF too! :bash: ) All three have different speakers, purchased probably >10years ago. #1 has two are Eminence GB12's...

Re: XF212 1 of 3, "vintage tweed"
wow; i just noticed the texture you got almost looks like carbon fiber wrapped... nice. was it challenging to keep the pattern straight? Probably not much more difficult than any other tolex. I'd say the trimming/folding is a bit more difficult as this material is thicker and less flexible than the...
