Corners for Cabinets Made from 1/2" Ply
Hi Folks, My omni 15 is complete, minus a grill and corners. The grill I have sorted, but I can't find any corners that a suitable. Every corner I can find is suited to a 1/2" radius edge. If I put a half inch radius on a cabinet constructed of half inch ply, the engineer in me says I'm taking ...

Thank you Bill, that answers my question and makes perfect sense.

Can I Blow an Omni 15 with a 300w Tube Amp.
I asked this question on Talkbass, but didn't get much of a response. If I use my Fender Bassman 300 Pro (300w valve) with my 3015lf loaded Omni 15, with a 24db/oct high pass set at 30hz, is the woofer safe from damage in the event that someone gets overzealous with the volume control? Put another w...

Omni 15 midrange driver farting
Halfway through my Omni 15 build, I happened upon an already built 15 Tallboy on facebook marketplace at a price I couldn't resist. Got it home and the first thing I did was pull out the existing Kappa Pro 15 (non LF version and a terrible bass driver - no wonder the previous owner didn't like it), ...

Well aware, thanks Bruce. I have speakers within spec for all the cabs I mentioned.Bruce Weldy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 5:35 am Before just grabbing any speaker and trying to use it, check the plans for the T/S parameters. You can't just slap any speaker in any cab and expect good results.

Re: 2" Compression Drivers in an Omni
Just realized that you reference OT15, O15, and Jack 15. My comments are regarding the OT15. Be a little more specific on which box the questions are about and we'll get you better answers. Hi Bruce, Thanks for your reply. I deliberately mentioned three different cabs as I intend to build all over ...

2" Compression Drivers in an Omni
Hi Folks, I've started making sawdust on an O15, with plans to follow with an J15, Otop15 and a T39. I have many speakers sitting on shelves looking for boxes. Speakers are expensive in Australia and resale is terrible, so while I acknowledge finding a box for a speaker is not as good as deciding on...

Re: A “build once, cry once” bass rig for Low F# tuning
Thanks for the advice, folks. Seth, I very much like the clarity of your setup. I'll be using onboard amps with DSP for my setup. I'll be doing a t39 for the bottom end. I have enough drivers lying around to build an SLA Pro, an Otop 15, and finish the Omni 15 I have started. The Jack 15 is calling ...

Re: A “build once, cry once” bass rig for Low F# tuning
The amount of 20Hz fundamental is going to be practically nothing. With just about every instrument made, including pipe organs, the second and third harmonics dominate until the fundamental is at least 50Hz. And that’s part of my conundrum. I’ve no desire to reproduce an F# fundamental, and I have...

Re: A “build once, cry once” bass rig for Low F# tuning
For a rig that's not too deep, the T39 and OT12 combo would be ideal. Build the T39 the same width as the OT12 and you have a nice looking rig. And keep it up against the wall - you won't get any cancellations and it will get some boundary loading. BTW......how big is an F# string? Size of a teleph...

A “build once, cry once” bass rig for Low F# tuning
I have just bought the full compliment of of BFM plans. I have increasingly been using basses tuned with a low F# string. I don’t play metal, but have been using the lower tuning either when playing with a keyboardist playing in my territory, when playing in an 18 piece stage band or just for someth...

Re: Omni 15 2x12 with Beyma Woofers
Thanks Bill. I assume that the hump is due mostly to the Omni 15 being too big a box for the woofers. If that’s true, would you expect a smoother response with the drivers in an Omni 12?

Omni 15 2x12 with Beyma Woofers
Hi Folks, I have a pair of Beyma 112 nd/w woofers looking for a home. Their specs are within those suggested in the Omni 15 plans. Qts 0.29 Fs 43hz Vas 64l Xmas 8mm Vd 440cm3 How would the low Qts and Vas effect bass response when compared with a 3015lf? The resultant 4 ohm impedance appeals to me f...

Omni 15 Crossover Frequency Question
Hi Folks, I'm building a 3015lf loaded Omni 15. I'm fitting it with a 2x800w RMSl class D plate amplifier from Aliexpress. I cannot speak to the quality of the unit, although I have been using a single channel 1200w RMS unit from the same supplier for some time, and it does indeed deliver the advert...
