thats the thing...yeah, they are all square and reasonably flat..no remarkable gaps or anything. honestly i am really surprised i am having such a difficult time sealing them.Tom Smit wrote:Are the flanges flat, and square to each other? Is the cover flat?
That foam tape should be plenty to seal.

Re: Titan 48x8 build
Think im gonna try putting a nice smooth bead over the seams with this. Should blend nicely, seems like the tape would stick out quite a bit sitting over the seams.sine143 wrote:it wont. you seal the driver chamber in the fashion you have now, and then throw some aluminum tape over the seam.

Re: Titan 48x8 build
aluminum tape is your friend. http://www.centsationalgirl.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/aluminum-tape-2.jpg just aluminum tape? How could that seal better than 2" closed cell? Here is a link to something very similar to what I am using. http://www.menards.com/main/doors-windows/weather-stripp...

Re: Titan 48x8 build
So Im struggling to get these front covers air tight. I switched from Phillips head to hex head (cost me 70 bucks), thinking that I could get them tighter as i was stripping the Phillips when i really torqued down on them. Anyway, whent from the closed cell 3/8 weather stripping to the like 2" ...

Re: Titan 48x8 build
I'd say dont worry about going more than 3/4 thick (with 3/4 birch), and if necessary, add an X shape stiffening brace to the top. you should easily be able to get that out of 1 sheet for 2. Yeah, Ill probably just hit up some 3/4 inch. They have some nice 3/4 7ply birch at Menards here locally in ...

I was afraid to recone too, but once i started it was not too bad. Just gotta be careful. I kinda of enjoy reconing now. Yeah, i saved a ton by reconing because i got the drivers so cheap. Probably have a hundred or less n each if i remember correctly.

Re: Titan 48x8 build
Re-coning my last two 3015lf's. I had originally re-coned all eight but two didn’t turn out right. Luckily I had two extra re-cone kits. Turns out if you want to buy kits cheap from a dealer they need to come in sets of ten; at least from Eminence. That means mounting three more subs, cutting and mo...

First ones together and tested (excluding duratex). Just ran a 30hz test at 40+ volts....yeah, its basically freaking amazing. Hell, 10 volts will shake my entire house! :noob: :noob: :noob: I used this to jam to for a bit, it was a nice range for the t48: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcyXE5xPbDk ...

Re: Titan 48x8 build
I probably wouldn’t change much regarding the plans. The build was a little easier than I had anticipated as far as complexity. Its a ton of work, no way around that. The math and confusing stuff is simplified and the process is well thought out. If they sound as well as everyone says they do I will...

Here are a few internal looks. Joints represented in these pics are the side of the Titan where the last side piece was installed. The tricky side.

Re: Titan 48x8 build
few more pics. I think they will finish up nice. I had to use a little filler in spots for screw holes and corners..they just look a little rough in the pics but they are really quite smooth and they appear to be very well sealed. Hopefully no leaks!

Here are some random before and after sanding pics, sorry they are kinda rondom and low quality.....almost ready to paint/duracoat! :hyper: I get a little outta control with the PL..mostly becasue I dont want to take the chance of having a leak....and partial becasue my woodworking skills are now me...
