Re: What Speakers for Vintage Audio Gear

Audiophiles will tell you there is a sonic difference in EVERYTHING. That's why you can pay huge money for capacitors, signal leads, speaker wire etc etc etc. I call BS on all of that. To me, the power of suggestion makes the difference, with the proviso that one is using items of reasonable quality...

Re: Newbie Aussie David Build

It seems odd that every adhesive manufacturer has literally missed the boat to the down under market. I assume you have forums for home construction, give one of them a try. Sorry for the distraction Chamesy. Bill, The Henkel group are linked with Loktite world wide. Three sources were previously a...

Re: Loctite PL Premium in Australia

I called Chris at abcadhesives.
He's confirmed the above.

He recommends Unobond as a replacement. Or get PL in from the USA...

Re: Output and Vd number crunching

Hmmm The way I see it, Vd is great to compare drivers, and that's about it. If you can get a higher Vd driver for the same money as another driver the same size, then all things being equal, that driver will likely have more Xmax. Similarly, 2 smaller drivers may have less Vd than 1 larger one, so i...

Re: Newbie Aussie David Build

They show Loctite® PL Premium® Polyurethane Construction Adhesive, the correct stuff, on their webpage. I don't see any method of buying it. Hey there Bill! Yeah everyone seems to be very secretive here about selling their Pl Premium, no simple straight forward buy now options :wall: This is the be...

Re: Newbie Aussie David Build

Ok, don't stress. I only mentioned birch ply earlier because, you could get it, not because you have to! You can build perfectly good cabinets without Birch ply. Go to Bunnings, by 12mm non structural radiata ply at around $40 per true 8 x 4 (2440mm x 1220mm) sheet. All my cabs are built with radiat...

Just a thought... it might save some people a bit of time if you edit that info into post #1.
Cheers!

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc

As per the PL in Australia thread. https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=17222 Forum member Chamesy has contacted Budgetgroup regarding PL premium, and they're saying no longer a stock item. But Chamesy found a new supplier in Oz; http://www.abcadhesives.com.au/adhesives/constructi...

Re: Driver wanted...

Please don't think for a second that the ASD will work sufficiently in a DR280 though. A 2kHz crossover diffraction compression horn driver option uses two Eminence ASD-1001 HF drivers (or the equivalent, with maximum resonance 1.3kHz)... :slap: Bugga, that's what goes with making comments based on...

Re: Newbie Aussie David Build

Try typing "Perth" in the search bar. Some will have their location in their profile, others will have it in a post. Send them a PM and see if they respond :) No, not necessary to remove the screws at all. You can countersink them, sink them below the surface, and fill the holes. If finish is not an...

Re: Jig Thread

Thanks, J. I'll give that a shot. I'm going to build several jigs to help with the construction of my cabs and I thought it'd be cool if others already had it figured out. I'll post then here when I do. I know Leland and Harley have posted up a couple of pics over time of some jigs. With my builds,...

Re: Driver wanted...

Hey!
The ASD 1001 is only for the DR250.

Please don't think for a second that the ASD will work sufficiently in a DR280 though.
The HF CD horn in a DR280 is for 2 x NSD2005. They are no longer available;
