Re: Is a Jack 212 right for me?

You don't need 8 ohm loads with your amp, it's quite capable of handling 2 ohm loads according to it's spec sheet. Do you understand impedance loads? In order for a 2 x 12 to have an 8 ohm load it has to be one of the two following options: 1: 2 x 16 ohm woofers wired in parallel. 2: 2 x 4 ohm drive...

Re: Is a Jack 212 right for me?

Hi and welcome to the forum :) A couple of things to consider: FRFR; plenty of full range cabs are just that (within the limits dictated by both design and driver/s) but flat response these days is achieved by on board processing of some description. You need to work out how to flatten any cab you b...

Re: 3012HO / NSD:2005 Voltage Limit

I'm not sure, as I don't have Otop J array plans, but, have you included the low pass woofer filter for better mid range response and a capacitor in series with the NSD for DC protection? The regular 1.2K crossover for the NSD is third order, that would reduce power, IIRC, to the HF driver, to aroun...

Re: T24 driver choices?

+1 to what CO said above. Another option, since you wish to go portable, is miniDSP. Check that out. Ok...so I should mention that the idea is to use a T-AMP to drive these subs...for maximum power efficiency because this will be a mobile rig. What seems to be the only thing on offer for t-amps is t...

Re: T24 driver choices?

Hi and welcome to the forum :) Typically outdoors you want 2 subs for each main equaling needing four T24's. If you can only do two subs, maybe look at the Titans as they are rated with a higher SPL but don't go as low as the Tuba's. It's always a trade off. It just so happens the T39 and the T24 ha...

Re: Cutting Otop12 Compression Horns

It's great if you have a table saw, but not essential. With lots of angles in these cabs, the most important tool I have purchased since I started into building these cabs is something like this: https://www.ptreeusa.com/layout_miter_bevel_angle.htm The 10" option (third one down the page) is plenty...

Re: Question about change in plans

Hi and welcome to the forum :) Which plans are you talking about? The folded horns have width as the only variable (in order to get expected results). The trick in making horns work is folding them. Don't mess with that. Sound though, since you're referring to ports, you're talking simplexx. Serious...

Re: Painful audiophilia!!!

When you don't have a lot of money, you have to do things in steps!! Save and build, save more, add more. That's not just about sound, it could be about anything. Put a computer together for your wife. Add the computer's sound stuff when you can afford to do so. Somewhere along the way, you're going...

Will I be able to run 12 cabs with c versions off of my lab gruppen plm10000q? According to https://www.labgruppen.com/Categories/Labgruppen/Power-Amplifiers/Touring/PLM-10000Q-DSP-Amp-4x2500W-2ohm-BP-230V/p/P0DI8/Specifications#googtrans(en|en) yes you can. The proper question is, Can I drive 12 c...

Re: Stage setup for bass and guitars

Aesthetics may suggest that amps behind players looks better. Yes that does declutter, and gives band members room to move around the stage without running into obstructions. Behind, in front, your ears will still hear either way. You're right, most bands starting out will have vocal only PA, and do...

Re: piezo wiring question

Anton has used the coated wiring normally used for inductors it seems. A soldering iron will melt the coating whilst applying solder. Orientating the piezo's as he has done makes it easy to use such wiring. If you found that pic in my DR250 build thread, I think I described the way to use ordinary p...

Re: Piezo tweeter x-over question

You're kinda overthinking this to early. I don't have Otops, I built DR250's, which have a larger melded array, and asked the same question at build time. You need to try it as per the plans first me thinks. The array does settle down after some use. The flat array will be bright as well, so you cou...
