Re: Aussie (BFM inspired) Soundbar

thanks @jimbo7 I can never unsee that now

I looked around at what was available and 90% of it is clearly consumer rubbish or too rich for my bank account. I figured “what the hell, just build it”.

If Bill were interested in designing a better one I bet it would sell!

Aussie (BFM inspired) Soundbar

Hi Folks, it's been a while since I posted - but only cos I hadn't built any speakers for a while. I've been happily listening to my SLAs and Curved center for a few years now (see the build here https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=23121 ) when, low and behold, my TV dies on ...

Re: Solo Gig Rig - Advice

Agree 100% - I have a Tuba 18 on my home theatre upstairs so tried it out. It is better. But it's also heavier and I already bought the amp. Oh well. Still sounds great. Thanks Bill.

Re: Solo Gig Rig - Advice

and I'm back. That was quick - NOT. Thought I'd give a quick update of where I ended up. Mainly cos I had a heap of fun getting here :-) I built 2 SLA Mini's and went a gigin' SLA mini 2.jpg But they are not low enough for the sounds I was after. Cut a long story short - after lots of trial combinat...

Re: Solo Gig Rig - Advice

Yep, I do sing (badly) I also have a mate that turns up with his box of harmonicas occasionally. I'm really looking forward to hearing the Godin/GR55 combo through something other than my Messa Boogie amp. While I love that amp, it's definitely colouring the sound a huge amount. It's a brilliant blu...

Re: Solo Gig Rig - Advice

and a little more info to read up on. I was wandering around in cyber space last night and found an SPL chart of the speaker in my current guitar amp texas-heat.jpg and here is the SLA Pro's chart MA12.gif Given low E is at 82Hz (as shown here) guitar-table.jpg I think I'll be very happy with the 6 ...

Re: Solo Gig Rig - Advice

I actually have a Behringer 802 lying around somewhere https://djcity.com.au/product/behringer ... -pa-mixer/
Guess I could pair it with an iNuke 1000 which is about $300

Will take up a little more room but that's about all.

Will keep you posted.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

Re: Solo Gig Rig - Advice

OK, OK, I'll dump the skytec idea :noob: and I'm well aware that I'll notice the quality long after the pain of the price has gone... Maybe something like this is a decent compromise between price and quality? https://djcity.com.au/product/behringer-pmp550m-5-channel-powered-pa-mixer/ It has rack mo...

Re: Solo Gig Rig - Advice

Well I certainly hadn't considered NOT having a sub but I must admit I'm currently just running through a single 12 inch open back guitar cab and it sounds "OK"ish. Not having a sub would certainly make it weigh less!! I think the 15" is too much. I already have a couple of Jack12s an...

Solo Gig Rig - Advice

Hi Folks, I'm after some advice please. I'm downsizing my gig rig. I'll be playing solo and only playing small rooms. I'm playing a Godin nylon string midi guitar -> GR55 synth -> RC300 looper -> ??? I only sing occasionally and I play light blues through to ambient (where decent bass is required). ...

I have a list of friends that want me to call them next time I fire it up so they can come over and watch. So you're not the only one that likes it.
And I must admit, I find myself standing there watching it work while I could be doing something else.
