Re: Jack 110 questions

One thing I need to figure out is if there is a way to regulate the hiss out of my tweeters. Tweeters don't produce hiss. They reproduce hiss if hiss is present in the signal that is being fed to the tweeters. In other words: your amp is the most likely source of any hiss you hear. If you need an a...

Re: DR build questions

You were right Anton, now I know what STUPID LOUD is! Happy is an understatement, thank you, I'm still smiling today :D :loler: Great stuff. It is a fun idea to know that a guy all the way across the earth from me, an Aussie right under my feet, is going through the exact same feeling when driving ...

Re: DR200s for 12volt system

i used PU for the first layer and pva for the second. except for in the tight crevice where i put some PU between all 4 sheets to ensure an air tight butt crack Yeah, you don't want them to fart out right there. Sorry, could not resist. Well done, good thinking on the 1.5mm ply and also on using PU...

Re: Jack 110 questions

Regarding the melded array, I'm thinking about using 6 tweeters - it's just for bass - no PA. Is that overkill? I think you'd be hitting the sweet spot for bass with 6 tweeter melded array for bass, three each side. If you happen to play fretless bass, the tweeters will be a surprisingly good addit...

Re: Jack 110 questions

I have put melded arrays in the mouth of an Omni 10.5, a long ago predecessor to the Jacks. It does indeed look nice in the mouth and the wider dispersion is exactly why I put it there. It works well. For the tilt thing you might want to consider installing a fold out handle in the bottom of the cab...

Re: Cheap TLAH drivers

Perhaps you can use the same trick that people use for testing tweeters in an array by ear: Feed noise to the array (not too loud), place cardboard tube to your ear, other end into the mouth area of an individual tweeter. They should all sound more or less the same. Faulty elements sound distinctly ...

Re: Simplexx 1x12 Build - Woofer only

How did you make sure the ooze out from curing glue did not permanently glue your baffle in place while it supports the cab geometry? I'm starting a S10 soon and intend to cut the port corners first for this reason.

Re: Simplexx 10 - bass guitar

I can do that, neither would be too difficult. But then again the J10 is significantly larger than S10. And I already own some O10.5's (somewhat like predecessor to the J10). The smaller size and light weight of the S10 are appealing. And there is curiosity.

Deleted the original post in case some might have found it upsetting. Don't know what you deleted, but I've never seen you post anything that could even mildly be considered upsetting. This. Re: Modern driver options for Table Tuba build?

My plan to use the Table Tuba for creating earthquakes in my home cinema setup, but hope it can do the job in my Lowther Fidelio setup as well. John, will you hear us when we say the seemingly modest drivers are likely to give you more earthquake than you have wished for. Just a tad more might theo...

Don't know about the others, but the Dayton Audio drivers are still available. Parts-Express have both the recommended 8" as well as the 10".

Re: Simplexx 10 - bass guitar

Thank you, that should work out fine then. I have the original Simplexx plans from 2013. I assume there have been no significant changes in the dimensions and woodwork? I think there have been updates mainly wrt different drivers for different purposes (e.g. the BGH25-8 for bass guitar use, is not i...
