Re: A good deal on a Tascam DM24 Digital Mixer?

Brent, Thanks! Good to know! And well, this is a steppingstone for me, before we do any gigs with more well known groups or more highprofile events, we´ll likely get a better mixer anyways :) But definitely something to consider before buying, so thanks again :)

A good deal on a Tascam DM24 Digital Mixer?

So, I´m looking for a Digital Livesound mixer, to be my first one, and have been looking at mixers like the Mackie DL1608, Presonus StudioLive 16.4.2 and similar. I dont feel that I want to buy an new cheapish analouge board, or even a used one really. I very much prefer digitalmixers, and I feel th...

Re: Driverack 260 not limiting correctly.

Well, if the Driverack 260 is not good enough, what processors are?? //Robin Soundweb, Xilica, Void or Driverack480 Thanks Bas Goiker! Havent heard about the Soundweb or Void before, some of the Xilica models seems really nice, and not really more expensive than the Driverack 260. The 480 is a bit ...

Re: You think Behringer can win you over?.... X32 that is...

And they are also releasing 4 other versions of the X32, two smaller normal mixers with 16mic preamps and faders and stuff, and two rackmounted units, one that is just a processor without any preamps or even outputs (it has monitor/headphone outs) so needs atleast one of their digital snakes, and on...

Re: Driverack 260 not limiting correctly.

I had a strange, almost similar problem with my Driverack 260 when setting limiters for Osses quadstack of T30´s. We ran a 60hz testtone through the djmixer, and we couldnt get a stable voltagereading when we were adjusting the limiter to bring it down from my normal 55-56V to 50V for the T30s, and ...

Re: A beginners guide to soldering.

Well, this is definitely a "to each his own" moment. :) My Weller station gets very hot on the max setting - no problem soldering 12 ga wire to Speakon chassis mount connectors. I typically turn it down a little for 20-22ga wire when doing xlr and trs. And I do build a bunch of 'em. I agr...

Re: A beginners guide to soldering.

I solder my wires to a spade connector(s), and slide them onto the speakon jacks. When you mentioned soldering speakons, I thought you meant the cables. Which, by the way, I "tin" my Starquad Speaker cable before securing them in the Speakon connectors. Well, thats one good way to do it, ...

Re: A beginners guide to soldering.

+1 to Bill:) I´ve heard that before, never actually tried to use a bigger gun to solder smallish cables though, might have to try! Good guide to soldering Grant! Btw, do you guys usually solder your speakons, or does anyone use Fastons(if thats the correct name)? I dont really like to solder Speakon...

Re: Upgrading PoS 1x15"?

Well, I bought the cabs used about 12-13 years ago, and they were probably a couple of years old already, I´d guess that they are maybe 20 years old or so :p But I havent used them very much, not the last 8years or so, and they werent really in a bad shape. The cabs are nicely made, with fixings for...

Re: Upgrading PoS 1x15"?

Bas Gooiker, thank you for your opinion again! I also belive that any CD+horn will be better:) If I cant get the CD10fe, it will likely be a slight cheaper P-Audio:) Their DM D446 seems good:) And on paper it looks a lot better then their slightly cheaper drivers, and if I´m gonna go this route, I m...

Re: Upgrading PoS 1x15"?

Hi Grant, Ah, okey, good to hear stuff like that:) And must say I have been suspecting something like that regarding P-Audio. But they might still be a good candidate for this upgrade ;) On the other hand, the Beyma CD10fe, that I have experience with, and I´ve only heard good things about it, is no...

Re: Upgrading PoS 1x15"?

Leland, I agree completly, complete optimization isnt really the game here, more like updating to get it a bit more useable:) I´ll leave the topnotch stuff for my BFM builds:)

So, I found a few pictures of the woofer in my 1x15", here comes:

Re: Upgrading PoS 1x15"?

Bas Gooiker, yeah, the Beyma CD10fe is a great driver, I have 4 of them in my DR 280´s and they really sound good:) I´ll see if Blue Aran can get hold of them for me in a reasonable time, I cant find any other supplier with even close to their price (36£ ex vat). Bas Gooiker or anyone else that can ...

Re: Upgrading PoS 1x15"?

Hello Grant! I was actually thinking a little about you, It was your thread about you using your old 1X15"s that got me into seriously considering an upgrade of mine :) And yes, I borrowed the PoS name from you :D Interesting that you were thinking of upgrading yours as well! Great minds think ...

Upgrading PoS 1x15"?

Goodmorning everyone! As some might have seen, I´m planning to build me some more tops and a couple of monitors, but, until I manage to decide exactly what to build, and find the time/money to do the builds, I was thinking to re-use my old 1x15" tops that I´ve had for a few years, mainly use th...
