Re: Dual THTLP's

SERIOUSLY impressed with your work man. I have 2 THT's that I wanna replace with LP ones (I know I have a sickness).... I like the idea of making them into pillars like you did

what wood did you use though??? I would use baltic birch but it only comes in 5x5 sheets and this sucker is 6 feet long

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

ok, finally got my ass around to installing on that access panel to my second tht.... ran a test sounds great, found a Tiny airleak around the access panel due to a divit in the wood creating a sligh pinprick passage to the outside (only really detectable with tube on something with really low exten...

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

Sure, it'll work. It might not compress as well, which might make the panel sit a little proud. It's up to you. gotcha, and this stuff compresses well, like really stinking well. I was just worried that the material would let air in due to being made of slightly different material than the PE speak...

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

And I bring the old thread back once again. I'm having to redo the access panel on my new THT that I snagged yesterday due to air leaks. I'm just going to mount the access panel over the top like I did my first one instead of create that inside lip and have it go flush with the 36x36x36 side panel b...

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

yes, thanks for the help Radian... totally made all the difference in the world... this is what I dreamed it would be... Deep, powerful and rich... :D soooooooooooooo stinking excited... used my spl meter and some test tones to fully dial in the speakers (though I leave my sub about 6 db hotter than...

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

When you plug the SVS amp into the THT, set both the Low Pass and Gain knobs to 11 o'clock as a starting point. In addition, (in the Onkyo) make sure the subwoofer trim setting "2-4. Level calibration" menu is at 0 dB, and that in "2-3. Speaker distance" for the subwoofer is set...

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

as for lpf's would yanking the bash amp from my SVS PB-10 and using that to power the THT until the Dayton 240 watt amps come back in stock???? Yup! Just be mindful that that amp may have some onboard EQ programed into it unique for that driver (bass boost for example). A Dayton bash or e...

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

I always thought that the receiver was supposed to handle the LPF xover :cop: That's a negative Ghost Rider. Even with Audyssey, you still need to setup band pass regions using the correct filter points. A good starting point would be to set the subwoofer to yes and all frequencies to 80Hz in the &...

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

The issue is a lack of a LPF going in to the Yamaha mixer/amp combo. Don't get the filter settings on the Onkyo confused with having anything to do with the subwoofer. The values set on the Onkyo are high-pass filters for what ever main speakers it's driving. Sub isn't the problem, it's the electro...

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

I think I'm going to be selling my THT sounds like garbage in my house... I wired my 2 svs subs back up to compare the SQ between the 2 types of subs.... no comparison... the THT can get really stinking loud but the SVS subs out class it in every way shape and form in actually QUALITY of sound.... b...

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

lol, my wife looked at me funny when I did it.... found out the THT needed to be on the opposite corner (the corner where my SVS subs didn't do so hot in which is kinda funny)... the boominess went away and the spl level was nice and crazy... tweaked the low end of the eq on pa amp and it sounded a ...

Re: My build of a Tuba HT sub

Cancellations and nodes. Change your placement. Try it in various spots. It's the room. hmmm, gotcah... was just a little surprised.. it was the absolutely perfect spot for my SVS subs... should I do the subwoofer "crawl" test to determine placement like I would a normal sub???? (put the ...
