Re: Simplexx 12 Build

I’ll be assembling the crossover later today. It’s my first time building one, so I have a few more questions: I’ll be mounting the components on two perf boards, one for high pass and one for low pass. I’m assuming on each perf board I can just solder the component leads together, and that I only n...

Re: Simplexx 12 Build

Whoops! Thanks!

I plan on installing a strap handle to the top. Should I glue extra plywood inside the cab to reinforce where the screws will go in, or is that necessary?

Re: Simplexx 12 Build

As far as the damping material goes, the directions only describe lining the upper and lower back of the cabinet. Am I correct in assuming it’s not applied anywhere else inside it’s cab? Is there any advantage or disadvantage to putting more in? Also (sorry, I think this was described in another thr...

Re: Simplexx 12 Build

The ports and bracing are done, and the baffle is installed. In a few days I’ll get back to work on it. In the meantime, another question. If I rout the edges, what size bit should I use? I read another build thread that mentioned using a 3/8” bit. Will that work for mine, or will it take too much w...

Re: Simplexx 12 Build

Thanks for your replies. I assembled the main box portion of the cab, next step is the bracing and ports. So far, so good. I ran into a snag when trying to order a crossover kit from Speaker Hardware. Unfortunately they’re out of stock. I ended up ordering the individual parts from Parts Express. Th...

Simplexx 12 Build

So I’m finally getting around to building a few Simplexx 12 cabinets for a bass rig. I’ll start with a Simplexx 12 Tilt Back for practices and smaller gigs, and a regular Simplexx 12 to go under it for larger gigs. Since it will probably take me a while (even though it’s an “easy build” cab, it will...

Re: Simplexx 12 Crossover

Thanks for the responses. I don’t know any of the specs of those crossovers, other than what’s listed there. I was hoping that I found a shortcut! I suck at soldering, so I’m hoping to do as little as possible. But if there’s any question as to whether or not they’ll work, I’ll just make one accordi...

Simplexx 12 Crossover

I’m gearing up for a Simplex 1x12 build, with a Deltalite 2512 and BGH25-8 horn. I’ll be running a GK MB500 head into it. I know I can get crossover parts from Speaker Hardware, but I just found this prebuilt one on Parts Express: https://www.parts-express.com/PRV-Audio-2DF2K-Two-Way-Crossover-Termi...

Re: Jack 12 Lite cut sheet?

Hmm, I guess it DOES help to read the directions twice before starting. I see now that the only parts made of 1/8” plywood are the horn sheaths, so I would assume a 5x5 sheet would be way too much.

Jack 12 Lite cut sheet?

Hi, I will be starting a Jack 12 lite build soon. How much 1/4” and 1/8” plywood do I need to buy? I’ve read the directions, but didn’t see it in there. I found a local source for Baltic birch in 5x5 sheets in both thicknesses, but will this be too much (or not enough) to build one Jack? I think I c...
