Re: Cutting piezos and not your fingers.

I always remove the screws before cutting. Then, if needed, I use a Dremel with a grinder wheel to grind down one edge of the screw head. Why go to that trouble? Because the first project I worked on, I didn't do it, and I ended up taking a screw to the gut after the saw blade hit it, ripped it out ...

Re: Speaking of Carvin...

Only Carvin gear I've ever owned was a B800 bass head, but that was one sweet head! I would buy it again in a heartbeat if I ever needed one!

Re: Jack 12 DPDT switch diagram

I wish I could give the picture from David Carter but I'm having troubles in trying to do it. Here it is, but I honestly think that the other images here are more helpful because mine doesn't show the actual terminal layout on the back of the switch. Also, keep in mind that this image was for a Omn...

Re: Headphone amps

I've got the 4-channel HA4700 model. I was looking at the HA8000 also, but when I started looking closely, there were some features that had been removed from the HA8000 in order to accommodate the extra channels, and I wanted the extra features more than the extra channels. But it's been a while so...

Re: Cable ties - your friends when soldering

I have a couple of these from Harbor Freight. They work well, and are less than $5. I take off the magnifying glass. http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/370x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_181.jpg +1. I don't remember where I got mine, but I've got one that ...

Re: Question for the Computer Guys

I wondered if the Linux topic would come up. I actually have dabbled several times in the past with Linux including twice with Ubuntu. I actually have another older Dell machine that I was thinking of putting it on just to play with it again as it's been a while. For this machine, I do need Windows ...

Re: Question for the Computer Guys

Thanks guys. Sounds like the priorities should be

- add RAM (I'm running XP, so 4GB max)
- consider new CPU

I'll proceed in that order.

Re: Question for the Computer Guys

Thanks for the replies, guys. You raise some interesting points... Regarding the CPU compatibility with the motherboard, the E6x50 series are/were also standard options in the Optiplex 755 using the same motherboard, so I wouldn't anticipate that being a problem. My main concern there was whether th...

Question for the Computer Guys

I have an old Dell Optiplex 755 at home, and I've been thinking about putting a different CPU in it. I'm not in the market for a new PC right now, and just wanted to see if I could get a little bit of a performance boost and learn something in the process. I've fooled with computers for years but ne...

Re: 01v version?

Mine didn't have the grounding issue when the previous owner had it, but it apparently got jarred just enough during shipping that it developed the problem. It did turn out to be a simple fix, however. There is a 01V group on Yahoo Groups that you can subscribe to. I got the schematic and instructio...

Re: Duratex and the Winter

Now nobody can say they weren't warned! My first experience with Duratex was very dissatisfying, but I found out later that it was entirely due to low temperatures during the application process. Once I got that straightened out, I've had good success with each of my other four builds on which I've ...

Re: DR200 (x4) Build Thread

@BoostFav, regardless of the origins, Stan (SoundInMotionDJ) does indeed have a herd of DR200's with the metal butt cheeks, and he uses his a lot more than I use mine, so he will definitely be able to offer an opinion on how they sound.
