Re: SLA Crowd Size specs?

Curious how this gig went? It's been a crazy couple of weeks, but now that i have a moment to catch my breath I wanted to report back. First off, I am LOVING the little 2x6 SLAP's in conjunction with the 4x6. I've been using them "spiraled" for these gigs. I've been doing 2 different gigs...

Re: SLA Pro X-over - in a tight, can i do this?

Ran with it for rehearsal tonight.
The 4 ohm just inline seemed to really knock the piezos down and tame them very well.
Working great so far.
Thanks again!

SLA Pro X-over - in a tight, can i do this?

I have some off-the-shelf 12db 3.5k high-pass crossovers (Dayton Audio from Parts Express - $7 or so each... cheap but simple stuff.) I'm in a time bind right now since EVERYTHING i've ordered since last Friday has either been delayed or just flat out not filled completely, which has me in a pickle....

Re: SLA Crowd Size specs?

Jimbo7, I just use Pet Screen from off the shelf at our local walmart anymore. The 2x6 SLAP's are so small, I literally used some scrap pieces that i almost threw away a few weeks ago on a de-cluttering spree (see kids, sometimes there are advantages to being a hoarder ;) ) I build a rectangle frame...

Re: SLA Crowd Size specs?

https://photos.app.goo.gl/T2wp112c66jEudVU9 Not really a "build thread" per se, but i did take a few snapshots along the way if anyone wants to see. I probably have about 13 hours invested in the build, but i did have to make a dash up to the office to grab my hole saw set (15 minutes) and...

Re: SLA Crowd Size specs?

Grant, ordinarily I would definitely knee-jerk and grab subs when I hear keyboard player, but I know this guy personally and he didn’t think the arrangement needed it originally. But I agree... better to turn down than NOT be able to turn up. I have the 2x6’s and grills constructed. Currently waitin...

Re: SLA Crowd Size specs?

Still interested in opinion on the above, but just for the record - for breakfast this morning I made eggs, coffee, and a 2x6 SLAP cut sheet and am out making with the sawdust on this wonderful and Easy Sunday morning. Currently 71 degrees and a wonderful morning to be outside ripping Baltic Birch! ...

Re: SLA Crowd Size specs?

Yeah, Originally there was no bass player so i thought just the tops would suffice with just the formal speakers at the podium, the choir, and a keyboard player playing "Piano & String" type stuff... but as is common here, they added something last minute and in this case it was a Bass...

SLA Crowd Size specs?

On many of the different product pages, a suggested # of cabinets to crowd size is offered. I don't see this on the SLA Pro product page and was just wondering. I have a gig coming up, it is a memorial dedication. Expected crowd size is 350. There will be formal speakers, a keyboard player and Bass ...

Re: Simplexx 10 as a studio monitor?

Thanks for the update Stephen. I'm looking forward to see how things progress. Leland is a great builder. He built a pair of my T39s directly and I think I also bought a pair 2nd hand that he may have built. Class act. You'll do fine building your own. As is always said here: Take your time/don't ru...

Re: Simplexx 10 as a studio monitor?

Makes sense Bill. Thanks. I may build up a set of these (I might lean toward the 12" since I've already had great success with the other 12" Simplexx offerings for Key and Bass rigs) once my other projects have been knocked out. OP, please let us know how it works out if you decide to move...

Re: Simplexx 10 as a studio monitor?

I'd be very interested to hear about how this turns out. I've been wanting some mid-sized coaxial monitors for my studio for a while. I always wanted some of those older Urei's with that Blue high frequency horn sticking out from the woofer... Should have bought some back when studios were throwing ...

Re: Christmas SLA Pro build

Which driver did you use? Chris, I went ahead with the Alpha 6a. I was really on the fence about grabbing those $20 Dayton Audio PA165's that Tom mentioned over in this thread: https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=25118 I decided the new Alphalite 6's were simply over budget a...

Re: Christmas SLA Pro build

I wanted to chime back in here with a report after nearly a couple of weeks of using them. I've commented regarding this on another post, but thought I'd come back here to the actual build thread to share my experiences. First off, back to the lean with the speaker poles... I initially had these mou...
