Because it's a horn. Can't have air leaks just like the subs can't have air leaks. Folks even plug the 1/4" jacks if they're not using them.

What size router bit are you using to round over the edges of your cabs built with 1/2" material? What's your technique for something like the top or bottom front edge of a T39/48 where there is nothing for the roller guide to follow?

I don't think there really is a 'standard' due to environmental conditions.
