Just seen this great new multi product on "Dragons Den"

Hi just thought I would post about this toolkit that seems to do everything you might need in a compact package. http://www.power8workshop.com/index.php Its a 4in1 workstation with cordless power drill, circular saw (and scroll saw) that because of the cleverly designed case can also be used as a dr...

Re: First night out with new OT15

No pics that I took, maybe some from other people present. If I get some will post them.

As for the EQ cut its just EQ cut at 300-700 on the good sounding response I got in my house with the cab on the floor.

First night out with new OT15

So I took my new OT15s out to a small jazz gig last night (apologies I meant to take photos!) Vox, sax and keys going through, bass not DIed and drums unmiked. Capacity maybe 150.... a small conservative club. I rigged up one cab and figured it was probably enough and it was. Plenty of output throug...

Re: Apparently I'm spoiled...

I don't think so. Those Mackie boxes really are quite horrible, and just as a testament to the quality of sound man you are, you were able to tell what was wrong but really had to struggle to get close to putting it right. A good speaker box - especially one that is supposed to have all its processi...

Re: Some RTA plots for OT15

I think it's possible to make an improvement by guessing the parameters for a major dip or peak, but don't think it's really possible to use many parametric (certainly not ten) EQ's just by plot interpretation. I have more than one DEQ so was able to play pink noise thru one and use the other to an...

Re: Some RTA plots for OT15

Based on interpretation of the plot for now as I don't have the facilities to do RTA to the level of ones already done easily.

At some stage I hope to get them out in the garden and plug my Mac in which would give me some analysis potential but thats probably not going to be for a while.

Re: Some RTA plots for OT15

The problem with tops is that they're almost never used in half-space, and not in anechoic rooms either. Which therefore means that for usefulness in EQing (the point of this post for OT15 users) this chart may well prove better overall than a chart measured in half space. The huge bump around 1.5k...

Re: Some RTA plots for OT15

That may well have been the case Bill, but since these boxes will never reside on the ground the chart (if it isn't measured on the ground) is accurate for the application as has been very useful for EQ'ing. I have just spent a couple of hours working with the PEQ in my DEQ2496 to get pretty much th...

Some RTA plots for OT15

Here are a couple of plots of my new OT15s with no processing. Woofer is a Kappalite 3015, Comp driver is the BMS Neo 1" on a P. Audio Horn. Unfortunately I don't know the full measurement circumstances because it wasn't me that measured them. First image is an average plot with an overlay of B...

Re: These guys seem to have an 18" loaded horn that works...

Psyco was the intended spelling AFAIK I think someone on a forum suggested it as a description of what the bin sounded like and I think the name just stuck. I am pretty sure the Psyco bin is a custom order anyway, its not a main product on the Void site, they are far too busy selling lots of Stasys ...

Re: Fletcher Munson Curves...which one?

So from a practical perspective would it be fair to say that for useage of cabinets in a room where between 110 and 140dB are expected the most common EQ adjustment should be to cut by 6-10dB with a fairly wide Q at 3.5kHz?

Re: Your drum overhead mic recommendation(s)?

Well if its for live I think many of the best options have already been recommended, but if its for Studio recording I believe very small diaphragm Omni pattern condensers are quite a good choice. The Earthworks microphones I think sound brilliant and a good but cheap alternative is believe it or no...

Re: Photographs - page for photo's of cabinets & stuff

I dont really mind, to me it would make the most sense for an admin to make a sticky thread, and then we can all upload our photos to photo hosts, and then insert links to them in that thread.

Not more than about 6dB louder!
