Re: XF 212 Guitar cab building odyssey
Hey there, I've been long to give you feedback about the Xf 212, but there it is! In just a word : WOW! It's not relly lightweight as it is "oversized" a bit comparing to the original one, and as I used 15mm ply instead of 12mm, but it's doable (I thinks it weight someting like 22/25 kg). ...

Re: XF 212 Guitar cab building odyssey
You enjoy your build Ctmullins! Honestly, it's not very hard to do, the only technical difficulty I met was with the baffle, to have them perfectly adjusted and fit tight. Maybe my ply was a little warped too (not sure, but the big sheet the parts were cut from may have bent a little), which didn't ...

Re: XF 212 Guitar cab building odyssey
Ladies and Gentlemen... :hyper: My cab is done, tested and working fine! (a bit harsh as the speakers are brand new, but that should be ok in a few hours). Here are the last picture of this odyssey : With the speakers in : http://img11.hostingpics.net/thumbs/mini_167429WP004321.jpg What can they be?...

Re: XF 212 Guitar cab building odyssey
That is a damn good looking cab. Want a job? Thanks for your compliments, and for your job offer LelandCrooks. But for this offer, I'm not sure it's a good idea : If I'm paid per cab done, I won't earn many money, and If you pay me per hour, that's gonna be your ruin... Anyway, any tip ...

Re: XF 212 Guitar cab building odyssey
Wow, a month since I came here... Anyway, tolexing and piping done last week, and it went fine! The corners, rubber feet and handle are installed... I have to finish the back, install the speakers, and build the grill frame, and I'll be ok! Anyway, here are the pics! First, the acoustic foam : http:...

Re: Yep....it's a guitar cab
Nice and sweet! I'll have to put the tolex and grill cloth, and all the little things to finish it... I'm tellin' ya'......once you use duratex, you'll never use tolex. I wrapped a rack case in rat fur once...I still use it and it's getting kinda' shabby, but one day it will get ripped off, sanded ...

Re: XF 212 Guitar cab building odyssey
Thank you guys! Well, I'm not as fast as I'd like to, because I miss free time to work on my cab, and I only have a router since last Christmas... Before that, I had to wait for a friend of mine to lend me his. So that took some time... And some things demand time. For instance, I want to have a who...

Re: XF 212 Guitar cab building odyssey
Thank you Grant,
I'll use the gasket, when I'll put the speakers. But I first have to do the next step : covering with tolex!...

Re: XF 212 Guitar cab building odyssey
After having attached the baffles, I paint them. Then I routed the angles, and routed the channels for the piping, and installed the front frame : http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/765352WP004257.jpg http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/343100WP004253.jpg and then the rear frame for the back : http://i...

Things are going slow, but they're stlll going on! I think I've finished the woodworking today. Here are the pics of the last two months of work (I only have a few hours free each week-weekend...) http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/341360WP004220.jpg http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/144751WP004225.j...

Re: XF 212 Guitar cab building odyssey
Thank you guys for your answers.
The speakers I have for the XF 212 have gasket to be rear loaded, but non for front loading, so I think I'm gonna use them!
Oh, and the holes for the speakers are now cut!

Re: Yep....it's a guitar cab
Hey Jimbo, that's exactly what I'm doing here!... If you're not in a hurry, you can follow my build here : http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=23171&p=259359#p259359 As far as I know, you can lose a little bit of the vertical dispersion of the sound, because of the top, bu...
