Re: Dual JBL GTO804 TT Build
BBE..sonic maximizer Put the money into a good EQ. Inquiring minds want to know. What do you consider good EQs for home? IMO, get a decent sound card with more than 2 output channels, or a pair of them with only 2 channels. Install it along with a quiet power supply into an old PC, then use this so...

Re: HF noise in DEQ2496
I believe the scale is going from 0 dB at the top to -60 dB at the bottom. The hiss is definitely audible when no signal is going into the DEQ and the Xti2000 gain knob is above 50%. I am pretty much deaf above 15KHz, so are most of the people who hear this gear. As to how it sounds when music is go...

HF noise in DEQ2496
With no input, my DEQ's graph shows noise starting at about 10KHz and increasing with frequency. It's an older model.

table saw sled miter slot runner tips
I have a bunch I've gathered from various other sites: 1) Make sure you get a TS with 2 miter slots. With one slot runner, you must build a runner to the exact width of the slot, which is much more work. 2) Use this stuff for the runners. Enough material for all the jigs you ever want to make, much ...

Re: Cordless Drill
I can appreciate Bosch, DeWalt, Makita and all that good stuff. Really I can.
But at $70 I'd consider the refurbed Skil 2898LI-02-RT to be the Behringer EP2500 of cordless drills. Mine's never let me down, a single charge is good for a couple of evenings and has enough torque to rip my arm off.

Re: T39 Lite - worth the gamble? - maybe
More like building an aircraft part than building a cabinet. More like building a speaker the way it should be built, which not the least bit coincidentally does resemble an aircraft or boat, where high strength and light weight is a must. Commercial cabs don't do it this way as the labor cost woul...

Re: T39 Lite - worth the gamble? - maybe
I built a T39, with 3 more in varying stages of construction using 3/8" BB. If I had to do it all over again, I'd use 1/2" arauco for panels 6 & 7, and adjust the measurements (reduce by 1/8") for the thinner ply used in panel 5 and the top, back and bottom panels. Seems to work f...

I work for a very large bank. I get trained and tested every year on security, including social engineering. And technical staff like me get extra training and testing on technical issues regarding security, also on a yearly basis. While we hope we never get hacked, anything less would certainly inc...

My anti-apple views are not political or religious in nature. I just don't like that they charge way too much for their products. More than anything I don't like the fact that they're designed to be replaced within a couple of years. I have a PC that's more than 6 years old and is running strong. N...

Re: Speaking of line array projects...
One more thing: if your room is big enough, you may want to look into using the speaker wiring to power shade your speakers, so as to keep reflections off the ground and ceiling. I wouldn't count on that bunch of marketers to be familiar with the current state of line array design, but that might be...

Re: Speaking of line array projects...
I believe the Pipedreams speakers were originated in here in Minneapolis. They currently go by the name of "High Emotion Audio". I will say in passing they probably understand how to make speakers that sound nice, but have no clue how to build a total system that takes into account the roo...
