Re: DR250 Build
Saturday night and time to relax and watch a movie (Predator) our soon to be daughter in law hasn't seen it yet. Here's where I am now. If you haven't guessed what my mistake was; I forgot to pre drill the holes for the bolts to mount the driver. Oh well I'll figure something out. I measured the arr...

Re: DR250 Build
Thanks Bruce. Aaron, I used abs cement on this array and it is a lot stronger that the arrays for my J12L's. Model airplane glue just won't cut it as far as strength. A scrapper is what I used on the J12L's and they came out looking pretty good. I just thought that there was something else I could d...

Re: DR250 Build
Here's what I have so far. In the second photo do you see the mistake I made. That's what happens when I take break for a few days and don't take of notes as to where I am in the build What do you guys use to tidy up the front of the tweeter array. I used wax paper on the jig to keep any glue seepag...

Re: DR250 Build
Apologies accepted. All is cool. :D For my own peace of mind I ordered my own set of plans. I see what you mean about the older version of the DR 250. And so, the build goes on. I got a few jobs. I'm a painting contractor and have three houses to paint. So, the DR build is going to slow down a bit b...

Re: DR250 Build
Ok, for the sake of all fairness I'll purchase my own set of plans. That way everything will be legal and there wont be anymore misunderstanding. I had no intention of ripping anybody off. If I crossed any lines my mistake I'm sorry. I thought that if I posted the build it might help others. I guess...

Re: DR250 Build
The plans I'm following for the build were furnished by my friend from his CD that he purchesed last fall. Thanks Harley, the pics don't show the whole garage, like the floor. I do clean up at the end of the day so my wife can pull her car in at night. Next up is building the tweeter array. Tedward

Re: J12LX2 Build
I am happy with the sound and when others hear they say it sounds like a bass. It is strung with Thomastik JF344 Flatwounds. I was wanting more of a true bass sound not the sound you get with bronze round wound strings, too much treble. It's probably not as loud and deep as a Tinozza but, still goes...

DR250 Build
After talking to a friend he wants me to build a DR250 and Tuba 60. I'm going to do the DR250 first. I started making saw dust yesterday (Saturday) and started gluing today. Got the throat horn started and found out that the table saw is out of alignment. Part of the problem was the design of the bl...

Re: J12LX2 Build
The ABG is based on http://liutaiomottola.com/instruments/Tinozza.htm. I deviated from the plans on a few things. Mostly the bridge. The "A" type bracing and body are from the plans. Mine is not as deep either. The J12L's will be used as combination full range PA in small venues and I'll p...

Re: J12LX2 Build
Got the switches wired. Thanks kekani. The ABG took me a year and a half to build. First ABG I ever built and worth the time and effort. The other bass used to be a Jazz Bass, with some interesting mods from another builder that was the end result. Tom, I'll give them a try through the stereo. Took ...

Re: J12LX2 Build
JohnP., thanks for the ear plug idea, I have lots of those around.
Also, I want to wire an on/off switch for the tweeters. I have a dpdt switch but, don't know how to wire it. Any help would be appreciated. Tedward
