Re: Omni 10.5's

Just a couple of further notes, these are O 10.5s loaded with Beta 10s and the straight meld arrays.

Omni 10.5's

I just wanted to post my experience with the Omni 10.5's and say how impressed I am with these speakers. This is the first set of PA speakers of Bill's design I have built. We are using them for a portable sound system at church. The primary use is for an outdoor service during the summers. This is ...

Re: baltic birch ?'s

I am also interested in the Acaura from Menards. None of our local Lowes carry the Acaura.

Re: Speaker Repair Question

Sounds like I will be replacing them. I was given all three speakers and figured that I could fix them cheaply. It will cost less than $100 to replace all three so that sounds like a better option.

Speaker Repair Question

I have 3 speakers that I was given that have the spider separated from the cone. Everything else on the drivers is fine. Since the surrounds, voice coils and cones are all still in great shape, is there a way that I can reattach the spider and cone without doing a complete re-cone? Two of the speake...

Re: Saw blade question

My only thought on having the screws lined rather than alternating is that it would give the array more strength and support on the back side.

Re: Saw blade question

Thanks for the help. The grinder option sounds like the safest way so I will do that. With my luck, one of the screws would end up smacking me in the jaw!

Saw blade question

I am preparing to build my first horn with the meld array and have a saw blade question. In my Omni 10.5 builds, I used the 4 tweeter setup and was able to trim the sides with my fine tooth blade on my panel jig and table saw. I would like to use the table saw to trim the piezos for the meld array b...

Re: Another Duratex question

But would this cause the duratex to crack all the way through the base coat to the wood?

Re: Another Duratex question

I thought of this also but I seriously doubt it because I wiped the cab down before the first coat following the sanding and there were no issues with spiderwebing on that coat.

Another Duratex question

I am having issues with getting the duratex sprayed on a cabinet without it cracking. I have been spraying it on in two steps. The first coat is sprayed on about the same thickness as paint. I have not had any problems with this coat. The issue is when I put the second coat on it cracks all the way ...

Duratex finish

I am about to finish the build on a set of O10.5 and am planning on finishing them with Duratex. I have not used this product before and I am wondering how much prep I will need to put in to the cabinets before finishing. Do I need to prime the boxes before I apply the duratex? I am also wondering i...
