Outdoor festival mini-review
Had my first experience as a “DJ” over the weekend. Event was a Fall Festival/Veterans’ Day celebration at the Town Green one town over. Very casual, low-key thing, with craft booths, food trucks, a farmer’s market, and several student groups from the high school. I set up my two 3012-loaded T39s ce...

I don't know a thing about home theater, but

Re: Rig debut
Yep, I have mine set up similarly, using the audio out from my Airport Express. And AirPlay has much more range than Bluetooth.
Re: Rig debut
Yep, even though I'm a newbie sound man, I've watched others on the old tech enough to appreciate what the XR18 brings to the party. There's one song our band plays that has our singer really belting it out at the end; on the old rig it always resulted in clipping the channel, with a horrible distor...
Re: Rig debut
How do you like the jacks with the BP102? Are they more round sounding instead of mid heavyness? Well yeah. :) I was running out of excursion with the 2510s when things got rowdy, so I decided to give the BPs a try. The 2510s by themselves didn't need tweeters for my ears, but the BPs do. More beef...
Re: Rig debut
Of course they should all be the same, no question there. The choice as I see it is the number of channels. For six band members, I could do two channels with three wedges on each channel, or six channels with one wedge on each channel. I'm inclined to start with the former, and see if that proves s...
Re: Rig debut
Ah, monitors.... Our original setup, for many years, was a single monitor send out to a single amp in "input Y" mode. Each side of that amp would drive two monitors, of all different makes and models (no two alike). Yeah. Then last year I built the W8s, but in order to incorporate them int...

Re: Rig debut
Is there a consensus about what wasn't liked with the Wedgehorns? I haven't really pressed them on it, but the one specific comment I got had to do with excessive brightness. It doesn't help that they (we) tend to mix and match monitor types on the same channel, so EQ is out the window. Honestly, t...

Looks great! Too bad about the first one; I'm curious about how much difference that inch would make acoustically...
Rig debut
Hi everybody - I'm stoked to finally be able to share with first official outing of my BFM rig! Over the last couple of years I've been assembling a complete band PA, from the ground up, based on OmniTop 12s and Titan 39s. I've also been acquiring all of the rack electronics to run it. A complete in...

Re: Joe's Omni 15 Tallboy
Don't even try. At this point, use 'em the way they are. As CO said, if you have to get to 'em at some point in the future, just take off the back. Well there ya go. Bad advice from me. :slap: I would've inserted a bolt and tapped them out, but I trust Bruce to steer ya right. :cowboy: <- Texas smi...

Re: Joe's Omni 15 Tallboy
Love watching TallBoy builds, thinking of doing one myself soon... One thing I forgot to mention. In my excitement to get the woofer mounted on the baffle I forgot to epoxy the hurricane nuts. Is that going to cause problems for me? Don't know, but now's the time to go and fix it. Then you won't hav...
