Re: adjusting x-over

Why not use a DSP. The FTX have a modular input board: 2 or 3 way x-over, comp/limiter, mixer, or regular 2 channel input with gain. Most out there that I have seen have a 2 channel cross, which make it a 1 channel input. This is great for guys like us to skip passive crossovers in place of a dollar...

Re: DuraTex, stain, fabric... what are your thoughts?

Stained my TLAH, SLA, and THTLP, all BB.

Came out a bit blotchy, was not a gel stain nor conditioned. I would heed Master Lelands advice. Still not an issue in a dark room though.

Re: Replacing a EMX 5000

Would the AES digital output on the x32 Compact work with the AES digital input on my DCX2496 crossover? Are there any generation or version limitations?

Re: Replacing a EMX 5000

It isn't a downgrade in SQ. Absolutely! Not only will it not be a downgrade, it will likely be a huge upgrade in sound quality. Interesting. I always thought the DEQ2496 was supposed to be the bomb in terms of SQ with specs making it colorless, but not a AB comparison the used Ashly EQ made the who...

Re: Replacing a EMX 5000

Thanks guys those all seem like solid suggestions.. We are not in a hurry so I figured find what I want, get it in the budget and wait to snipe a deal on it. We only have 4 instruments (2 guitar, bass and keys), 6 mics, and 2 aux in at the moment. I would like to mic the drums at some point, thinkin...

Replacing a EMX 5000

So I am starting to test the waters on what a great for the money mixers run. Our church has a old Yamaha EMX 5000 board that they were running Peavy tops off the boards amp. The board is introducing a rolling buzz (comes and goes every 1-3 minutes, 50hz-ish) and has seen better days so I want to bu...

Best electronics guy I have found yet

If you are tired of taking your gear to the electronics repair guy and not having it fixed, deemed unrepairable (after you paid $50 for just looking at it), no issue found, having full boards replaced when a single component is the issue.....I finally found a good one. Anyway I told him about the fo...

Re: Install amps for home use

Sounds like past the fan noise there should be no real difference, or nothing pointed out anyways. I just wasn't sure if there was something I might be missing.

Thanks guys. Now to just get him to commit to the purchase.

Re: Install amps for home use

As for the fan noise, other contenders are Berry EP1500 ($100), QSC GX5 ($200) or Ashley FTX/FET (usually around $200 shipped on eBay. The QSC and Berry are already sourced locally. All of them have various fan noise issues to be dealt with. I have heard Sony TAM2e before and it specs similar to the...

Install amps for home use

Is there any reason to not use an install amp for a home sub use? My buddy is building 2 slim T60 for a media room and we have access to a cheap 2 x100 amp class d. It is a Lab Gruppen e series, even has auto-on. According to specs it is 4hz to 42khz.

Re: Inexpensive setup?

Having heard my pine BP102 T39 20" vs BB Lab 12 24", I would go for small and manageable sizes. Build 2 if 1 is not enough. Sounds like you got a good start to a silly loud system.

Re: Inexpensive setup?

If you have a place to store it, I say go for it. Young guys will have no issue moving a T60 in and out of party houses, a single will T60 will have plenty gitty-up and are brutal in residential settings (I have one in my lower livingroom for sale). Since you guys are young, look for used iron amps....
