Re: 2 Jack 12's 3012HO loaded, with 8x melded array

Thanks as always. I could use some clarification on the process of reading the voltage during burn-in. Can someone direct me to the appropriate discussion thread?

Re: 2 Jack 12's 3012HO loaded, with 8x melded array

You answered your own questions. Since 50hz @ 7 Volts would not give the suspension much movement, you have not really broke in the driver yet.

What can I do differently on the next one? Cause there will be a next one, oh yes.

Re: 2 Jack 12's 3012HO loaded, with 8x melded array

Oh and 1 other thing, even though I broke in the driver per the recommendations, I have noticed a distinct improvement, more richness, better lows, since I've worked it a little. It's been said a thousand times in this forum, but worth repeating: give 'em time, they really will loosen up and just ge...

Re: 2 Jack 12's 3012HO loaded, with 8x melded array

I've gigged with my new speakers a couple of times now, and they are really starting to grow on me! Last night I really experienced the full impact of a BFD cabinet. We played in a bar which has a layout I would describe as a "split level". The entrance is upstairs, the bar is down a short...

Re: 2 Jack 12's 3012HO loaded, with 8x melded array

Thanks Bill, that's good to know. What I need to be careful of, and we spend a fair amount of time as a band talking about, is playing at the right volume. A big part of that, we've come to realize, is not placing our amps on the floor, aimed at our knees, and then turning them up until we can hear ...

Re: 2 Jack 12's 3012HO loaded, with 8x melded array

Thanks for the response. The drivers were broken with a 50hz test tone, about 7 volts for 24 hrs. I've been playing through the one for a few weeks, so it should be pretty well there. Re: the Tech 21, this is not the Sansamp DI type thing that Getty Lee uses, but rather a preamp/gain boost/character...

2 Jack 12's 3012HO loaded, with 8x melded array

Here is my new bass stack. I finished the full-range Jack 12cab first, with 8 piezos as recommended in the plans for bass. I then wanted MORE of everything, and commenced on #2. Bill recommends increasing the piezos to full strength when combining 2 cabs, and I may get to that some day. Anyway, I wi...

Re: Jack 12's

What did you use for the grill screening? It almost doesn't show up in the pix. Also, what did you do for input jacks and so on? 1/4" or speakon? How do you have the speakers wired, both out of the amp, or out of one into the other (Idon't know what that's called, parallel or series?) I'm build...

Re: XF212 finished, and very happy!

I haven't taken the back off yet, I will try soon, just cause you made me curious. It sounds great just the way it sits, no need to prop it up so far. Regarding the flaking Duratex (where'd I get dynaflex?), I read in another set of plans that Bill recommends using Bondo to fill and smooth, which is...

Re: MA / New England Builders, where to find 1/2" Baltic Bir

I buy mine at Currier Lumber in Amherst, NH for around $30 for 1/2 BB 5x5. They also have 3/8 and 3/4 in stock. They're about a 1/2 hour ride from the Mass border (Fitchburg-Leominster-Pepperell-Rt 2). Locally owned and operated!

XF212 finished, and very happy!

I've finished my XF212, and here are some pix of it being used as an extension cab for a Mesa F30. As you can see, the band room is pretty angular and not real sound friendly. We on the other side of the drums need to hear the lead guitar, without being deafened. The XF is perfect for this, nice wid...
