Re: Simplexx 10 Wedges

For reasons I won't get into, this project is moving very slowly. Sides, tops and bottoms are glued. Yesterday I cut the baffles to size. Today I hope to do the driver cutouts. In past projects I've not been able to borrow a router when it came time for the driver cutouts, so I did them with a hand ...

Re: Simplexx 10 Wedges

The coils and caps arrived yesterday.

I didn't realize until I opened the box that the values in the Wedge plans are different than what's listed for the regular Simplexx 10...and that Speaker Hardware's coax driver kit includes the latter.

Re: Simplexx 10 Wedges

You could go for best of both worlds: two on one side (handle side), one on the other. Hmm...That might also shorten the cable run to the drummers wedge. Sharp idea to clamp two together and have identical cuts  If I'd done that back when I built my Jacks, I wouldn't have one that wobbles whe...

Re: Simplexx 10 Wedges

Cut 3 sets of sides, tops and bottoms yesterday. Hoping to get that much assembled this evening. I don't have a table saw and my circular saw skills leave a lot to be desired. For this build, I got smart and clamped two sheets of ply together so the pieces for each box match up. I won't be using jac...

Simplexx 10 Wedges

Just ordered the parts for a 3 x S10 wedge build. I'm not good at remembering to take progress photos, so this might be a short thread. I'll be using round metal grills, round-flanged SpeakOn jacks and a single strap handle on each box. I'm getting the drivers, X-over components and straps from Lela...

Re: ipr 1600 vs 3000 performance

Interesting. I guess I need to research this further. My info came from Peavey's Power Amp forum. I recall reading there that the channel inputs have reversed polarity. But I'm basing that on memory from a year or more ago...and my memory isn't what it used to be. :) I don't think the manual ...

Bridging an IPR 1600

Creative engineering: 1) Connect the input signal to channel A. 2) Use a TRS (balanced) cable to connect from the 'Thru' out of channel 'A' to the 'B' Channel input. 3) Then use two Neutrik speakon connectors with the positive speaker wire connected to a Speakon connected to channel 'A' positive (i....

Re: Chart - Comparison of Amps -Model, wattage, price, weigh

Although it's not as simple as flipping a switch, the IPR amps can be bridged.

The manuals for any of the IPRs that are currently being shipped are now available on the Peavey website.

The Gallien-Krueger RB series Bass amps are class H, if that tells you anything.

Re: Jack 10s for small PA

Last Friday I gigged the Jack10s for the 1st time. Small room and inadequate space for the band. The two jacks were set up behind us and served as both FOH and monitors. 2 voices, an acousctic giutar and 6-string bass guitar through them. There were quite a few musicians who came to hear the band. I...

Re: Jack 10s for small PA

They're also larger and heavier than J10s. I don't recommend them unless you must have major low frequency output from your monitors, where you'd otherwise be using 1x15 commercial wedges. That eliminates about 90% of bar band gigs IMO. Precisely my thinking. J10s would be easier on my old back...a...

Re: Jack 10s for small PA

Another pair of Jack10s would be more versatile than WH10s. (FOH, stage monitors, or bass rig) I figure I could tilt the Jacks with blocks of wood, the same way I do now with my bass guitar cab and current monitors (which are actually full-range boxes designed for FOH). How much tilt do you get with...

Jack 10s for small PA

My Jack10s got their first real workout last night while the band (drums, bass and acoustic guitar) tried out new songs. We were set up facing each other in my basement with the jacks on poles at head level, aimed at us. Voices and acoustic guitar were fully in the system with a bit of kick drum and...
