Re: TTLS To Help Out TT

Wayne, The bracing in the speaker chamber was something I added so that I could make panel 6 removable. In the plans, this panel is permanently attached. I made it removable to make it easier installing the speaker.

Old Thread...Update

BFD1124 on it's way. Seriously contemplating another TT build, this time a mirror image of first TT built. Should be easier to EQ based on what I heard earlier. Now to decide...REW or omnimic..Since I would have to purchase all the hardware, (including exterior soundcard), looks like price is not a ...

Re: TTLS To Help Out TT

Bummer  NcDaveD, you must be pretty spewing. Not Spewing, just disappointed. I probably had unrealistic expectations to begin with....thinking I could just stick in another sub and have it work correctly. The more I think about it, the more I realize I should have known this from the beginning...

Re: TTLS To Help Out TT

Bill, thank you for your suggestion and explanation on what is happening. I am assuming you mean something like the BFD 1124? If so, I blew it two months ago when I had a chance to pick up one for $45.... :bash: I'll keep an eye out anyways.... Thanks again for offering this great build.... NCDaveD

Little Update

Finally wrestled the TTLS upstairs w/help from SWMBO. Set it up in it's place and fired it up. In a word...disappointing. Muddy sounding, but louder. Thought about it a minute and realized that due to placement and running off a single LFE output channel, the two sub's soundwaves were hitting me at ...

Amp Box Done

Finally got the amp box made out of scraps and took the first amp out of my original box and stuffed it in the new box. Nothing really much to look at, especially since it will be in the bottom of my equipment cabinet. But in case someone is curious as to what two SA240's look like.....here ya go!. ...

Re: TTLS To Help Out TT

Hello there Titanium Hand! Glad you enjoyed my little journey so far. I will try to A/B them a bit when I get the TTLS upstairs, but I do expect to hear some differences due to their location. My existing TT is almost perfectly loaded, shooting into a corner with the appropriate distance from the wa...

Re: TTLS To Help Out TT

Thanks Benjammin! I'm glad that you have enjoyed my journey. It is liable to be a couple of days before I can get the TTLS up stairs as I messed up my back the first week of January, and I have to be REAL careful of what I lift and how I lift it. The wife isn't too interested in helping out with thi...

Re: TTLS To Help Out TT

Howdy Osse! Thats some crazy amount of Wood for a 8".. Thanks for the porn pics;) and very detailed build thread! Thanks! It is reassuring to have folks write in and let me know they are enjoying my posts. Makes the extra work of photos and posting worth it. Yep that is a LOT of wood, but makes...

TT Done

Thanks guys! Paint dried OK, so I installed the speaker (it was soooooo much easier with the removable panel), buttoned up the bottom panel and sent the test wave through it. All kinds of stuff in the garage started buzzing/shaking/rattling, so I'll have to get it upstairs to check for leaks, but as...

Re: Shawn's Tuba 18 Build

Shawn, that T18 is looking VERY good! It is great to see a T18 build come together. Looks like a miniature TT (or THT as the case may be!). :hyper:

Any ideas on how you are going to finish it?

More Paint

It does look pretty brutal, doesn't it? Some more sanding, bondo and paint. I swear everytime I sand this thing, I find another dimple that needs bondo. After this coat, no more bondo, no matter what! :noob: Still very humid, so I can only get one coat on a day. If I rotate it too soon, the paint st...

First Coat of Paint

First coat of paint down. Found a couple of spots that I need to bondo, so will rempve paint from those areas and bondo. Then sand and another coat of paint. Very humid today, so not sure how long paint will take to cure out.

Looking Good!

Tomsza, looing good there! My ply was warped as well and it took a lot of guideboards (and I stilll didn't use enough of them), patience, screws and glue to keep the tuba flat (I'm building the TTLS). Joe, on both my TT and TTLS builds, to minimize glue getting spread all over on that first panel, I...
