Re: Build: 4x Ultralight 200mm Double Reverse cabs
When you get one of these built I'll be curious as to what the weight savings is. I built my DR200's out of 1/2" Arauco which is a lot lighter then baltic birch. I will weigh one and post it here. Keep in mind that I do not have light weight neo drivers. Of course there is another way to lighte...

Re: What's to chat about?
I have a feeling that when the COVID restrictions start to lift, there will be a demand for live entertainment systems. Wanna be ready to capitalize on that if/when it becomes a reality. I have been having the same feeling. Now is the time to build and be ready! I have a few projects to finish and ...

Re: Home Studio with Table Tubas
Two Daton 8" drivers came in today and I cut up three sheets of ply for parts. Hopefully I'll start gluing up a pair of table tubas this weekend.

Re: SLA Pro - Powered
Nice looking setup! You have a lot of the same construction techniques as I do including the use of home made square clamps, pattern bits, leaving panels proud and route to fit. My philosophy is that when going for a perfect fit it is easy to be off just a hair. It is far easier to make a planned er...

Re: Home Studio with Table Tubas
I made some progress in the home studio/office project. The desk is completed and installed. The only expense in making it was $32 for a can of black paint that will also get used in several other projects. All of the materials were leftover from other projects. The desk is on wheels for the occasio...

Re: Home Studio with Table Tubas
Home Theater.jpgMine are long style standing on end. I'm lucky that my wife understands gear. I ask how she wanted to finish them and she said to paint them the wall color, so I did. She also thinks that the Duratex finish on all the other cabinets looks good. We mostly use the room for tv and musi...

Re: Home Studio with Table Tubas
I would think they would be superb as long as you have room and proper eq. I have a pair in my living room with my SLA setup and they are awesome. Running them on a 60 wpc Hafler D-120. My wife loves our system. In my office, I run a truck tuba under the desk, and it works great. I have a couple of...

Re: Home Studio with Table Tubas
I guess if it doesn't work, then you have 2 x TT's for somewhere else in the house :) That's gotta be a win... They wouldn't be bad in my living room with a pair of sla's. I need mains mounted on the wall. My wife just can't help herself from changing the layout every few weeks and unhooking my spe...

Home Studio with Table Tubas
Because of covid there are no events happening so I decided to upgrade my studio monitors. 4 3012LF loaded T30's are on the schedule to upgrade my PA but first will be the studio which is something that can be utilized now. My current setup is Presonus Eris E5 XT monitors and a single Presonus Tembl...

Re: 2x12 30" T30 vs 186 horn?
Since you indicated a strong desire to get away from big heavy boxes. I would not recommend building T30's at 30" wide and double loading them. Instead go with the minimum width of 16" maybe even 20" single loaded with 3012LF's. I have worked with Lab12's in the past and they are heav...

Re: Is it better to use a china built bi-amp plate amp?
.....too far to bend over to make any changes on the bottom amp in the rack. Must be getting up there in years :loler: I'll be 53 in a week so I'm closing in on you a little to fast! If the XLS doesn't have a usable limiter the OP may be better off saving money by getting a "dumb amp...

Re: Is it better to use a china built bi-amp plate amp?
But to clarify....the XLS amps don't have the same DSP as the XTi amps. You are correct the DSP is not the same as on the XTi's, not by a longshot! The XLS line does at least have a crossover and limiter which would be helpful. Since the OP has a Driverack he could go cheaper on an amp without DSP ...

Re: Is it better to use a china built bi-amp plate amp?
Thanks guys I will just get 2 Crown XLS and yes Bruce I already have a Driverack PA. You wont regret getting the Crowns with built in DSP. It keeps options open for the future. For example I started with a driverack (still have it) but I have been working on simplifying and lightening my system. I ...

Re: Titan 39 to Tuba 30
Ken, what's the width of your T39's? The pair are right about 13" wide and have wheels. I made them as narrow as possible for easy transportation to use at small events and weddings. They are made from Arauco 1/2" ply so they are quite light. I'll take a couple of pics tomorrow as I was g...

Re: Titan 39 to Tuba 30
I still have 2 of the classic 16.4.2 mixers and an RM32ai. I've mixed on the Series III 24R many times. It's a nice piece of hardware......I even installed one at a venue here in town. I still like to have faders at my fingertips, but the shows I've been doing lately aren't conducive to using a sna...
