Re: Compresson Driver availability

It's not a textbook crossover. I adjusted it to give the best results. There are only a few textbook crossovers, identifiable by their Q. Simple calculators only offer the usual Q choices, to keep things simple. You don't need to use a given Q, you can use your own. It's like speaker modeling softw...

Re: Compresson Driver availability

A pair of NSD 2005-16 can be wired parallel for an 8 ohm crossover. Double the capacitor values, halve the inductor value. The low pass filter is unchanged. Thanks Bill. Out of curiousity......which 3rd order crossover variation are you using? Bessel? Butterworth? I was trying to figure it out on m...

Re: Compresson Driver availability

Any driver with comparable specs to the F151, including size and weight, will do. Don't rely on catalog descriptions, look at the data sheets. That automatically excludes cheap drivers that have no data sheets. That pretty much takes Eminence out of the running.....can't find any of their products ...

Compresson Driver availability

Bill, The F151M-8 is not available right now and won't be for some inderterminate time. It will probably come back at some point, but there is no ETA from Eminence. Are there any possible alternatives for the 1.2k crossover option? The PSD 2002-8 are about twice the weight and 5.25" x 2.2"...

Wow, I had to go all the way back to the 2016 price list to find that one. Can't believe it's been that long!

For home theater, SLA and TLAH would be the better choice. Unless, you need it really loud. And I doubt that, with just an Autotuba for the sub.

If you put the Plastic Chevron corners on the cabs, they will never touch and never stick. Plus, when you stack 'em, they won't slide around. They lock in.......couldn't imagine not having 'em on my cabs. https://www.penn-elcom.com/us/large-plastic-black-chevron-stacking-corner-with-chamfer-and-1-4i...

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc

Good afternoon all, there's an opportunity here for purchasing a pair of opened but unused 3010MBs, as they're discontinued, l'm wondering about the availability of recone kits? Also the frame doesn't look like it wants to be back mounted, like in a DR250 I doubt that you'll be able to get recone k...

Re: Crossover question

Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2024 1:20 pm The low frequency limit is determined by the Fs. At 1kHz Fs the F151 is OK at 1.2kHz. I could have gone lower with the NSD but didn't for two reasons. One was to allow more driver choices, the other being none of the speakers needed lower than 1.2kHz.
Thanks for the explanation.....

Re: Crossover question

I haven't had any reports of failure. Also note that the F151M has higher sensitivity than the ASD 1001, so it doesn't need as much power, another reason why it can get away with a 3rd order high pass. My only concern was the published crossover suggestion by Eminence. I know they are supposing a 1...

Re: Crossover question

With the F151 looking a little less robust than the NSD2005, would it be worth going 4th order when using it? Or, is it tough enough to stick with the old crossover?

Crossover question

Bill, in checking the plans of the DR280 to get some other info, I noticed that the 2k crossover option for the CD is a 4th order filter. But, the 1.2k option is a 3rd order filter at a slope of 18db/octave. Wouldn't a 4th order filter give better protection, especially with the NSD2005 being replac...

Re: BMS H4552ND Alternative

If your plans are old, you might consider contacting Bill for an update. New plans suggest Eminence F151M-8 for the lower 1.4kHz crossover point. My plans are old, so I gotta' ask........ is the 1.4k you mentioned a typo or did the crossover change with the F151M? It's always been 1.2k. Good catch,...
