in agreeance with larry and les. sounds like the problem is getting started with the layout on the side boards. the measurements are all there, plot the dots, and then draw the lines connecting them with a straight edge. i'm pretty sure i revisited a fair share of middle school geometry while drawin...

I'm a 3rd year electrical engineering and systems engineering double major at the university of virginia. I've always had an appreciation for good sound and have been dabbling with hi-fi and home theater sound for the past few years. I just started building my own speakers over the past summer and j...

if you are old enough to have been taught woodwork at school instead of design technology then you will get decent results with a handsaw, scriber and set square. i think one or two of the designs require internal routing but best to ask first. my t24 is fine by hand. heh, no such luck. i've had to...

when making a plunge cut, can I move the saw once it's in? or do I have to take it out and make another plunge cut to extend the cut?

I use a circular saw with a sled to get pretty accurate straight cuts, when cutting extra material off, in this case the access panels. My real problem is the actual cut out. I can fit the access panel/baffle to the rough cutout simply by trial and error trimming (I plan on using a little wood fille...

Cutting out the speaker access panel

Alright, so I've started construction on a pair of Tuba 30s. I'm not really clear on the best way to cut out the speaker access panel and consequently, the baffle. What I did was use a jigsaw to cut out the inner outline. Unfortunately, my jigsaw skills are not optimal and I've definitely got a few ...

ok, I think I can manage all of that except perhaps a table saw. what is it used for in the project, and are there any alternatives? How much more difficult is it to use the alternatives?

Tools Needed

I'm a college student trying to build a pair of the Tuba T30s, and am wondering exactly what kind of tools are necessary, what kind of tools are helpful, and which would just make the process easier.
