Just to clarify further. The slight hiss is present at all volume settings and with treble off or on. My phone app says it's about at 3.8 K. Maybe that's just a characteristic of the tweeters. Tried different speaker cables too. Amp doesn't make this kind of noise even at full volume. How tricky is...
