Bargain alert

I noticed Amazon has an open box QSC PLD 4.3 at nearly $1000 off. Almost pulled the trigger myself, but decided to pass. Figured one of you guys might want to jump on it.

Re: Setup for yearly party

But if anyone have suggestions for a mixer or control so I can hook up a computer AS audio source that had been great I think any of the newer DJ controllers and appropriate software will be just fine for your needs... unless you're not going to be "live" DJing. If you're just going to play a playl...

You need the 1/2 inch or 12mm for either of those boxes.
Yes, seller has, 3mm/6mm/9mm/15mm available, so, no problem.
Just an outside observation... but, 12mm is missing from the sizes you have listed as available

At the maximum possible sensitivity for any system, 120dB/watt, it would take 100,000 watts to reach 160dB.
100Kw @ halfspace, 1m? Wouldn't that work out to be closer to 10Kw in car? ... purely mathematically speaking

Re: Truck Tuba Car Sound Quality Questions

The maximum efficiency of a group of direct radiators is 25%. http://www.xlrtechs.com/dbkeele.com/PDF/Keele%20(1991-10%20AES%20Preprint)%20%20-%20Max%20Efficiency%20of%20Speakers.pdf Even more interesting! So, the maximum possible sensitivity for any system is 120dB/watt at one meter, half space, a...

...maximum possible sensitivity for any system, 120dB/watt... That's an interesting little factoid I'd never heard before. Science, being science, it makes sense that there's a maximum theoretical, SPL per measure of power at 100% efficiency. It's just something that's never crossed my mind. Thanks...

I never saw the download attachments option before. Even now, it took me a moment to find it (under the Save draft/Preview/Submit buttons). That's handy!
And it shows a nice large picture when I click on the image. That's awesome!

Re: titian vs sb850

That chart depicts the Titan at 0.8 watts and the SB850 at 2 watts... 2.83v for both Amps put out voltage, not watts. Watts are a function of the voltage pushing current through an impedance. Ever seen an impedance chart of a cabinet? The impedance changes at every frequency, which means every freq...

Re: 3012HO / NSD:2005 Voltage Limit

Hi Nathan.

Here's how you calculate Voltage from Watts.

It's the Square Root of Watts x Ohms.

Example:
200 Watts x 8 Ohms = 1600
Square Root of 1600 = 40 Volts

Conversely, to calculate watts from volts and ohms is Volts Squared / Ohms = Watts
40 x 40 = 1600
1600 / 8 = 200 Watts

If that's the way it is, I'll just have to rearrange my reality to match. I find I have to do that a lot around here. Thanks for the explanation Brent.

Bruce, great suggestion on finding a band that needs a better system, or needs help running sound, to get my feet wet. That sounds much more realistic than buying a bunch of gear that may sit around.
I'm considering the same.

Re: 6 Tuba 45s

Preface... I don't (yet) do sound for money. I've had very good results with Behringers XR18 Digital Mixer. Enough inputs and outputs for smaller gigs, tons of signal processing built in (gates, compressors, and EQ on every input), a fair amount of quality FX, and a super low price. It's all housed ...

Re: 6 Tuba 45s

I mean, what does the T45 chart look like at 40v for example? To me, it looks like the T45 is about 92dB at 2.83v, at 40hz. Personally, I calculate from the least sensitive portion of the usable bandpass, rather than the average. Doubling the cab count to 2, add 6dB (98dB). Doubling it again to 4 c...
