Re: Commercially available HF horn compatible with OT12 / ASD1001?

I use the Parts Express H6512 in all of my OT12 speakers mated to the Eminence NSD 2005 which are no longer made. They are crossed at 1200 hz and mounted with the long axis vertical. This horn is a copy of the high frequency horn used in the JBL JRX speakers. The high end in those speakers doesn't s...

More simple take on a speaker platform

I have an upcoming outdoor family event that is a combination wedding party and music festival with three different live bands. Normally I would have rented platforms to stack a couple of OT12s on either side of the stage but I thought maybe it was time to think about some of the speaker stand based...

Easy Nailing Guide

When I build my BFM speakers I use my finish nailer to hold the joints as the PL cures. On my first couple of boxes I used the nailer freehand and had many shots that poked through where they weren't supposed to or missed altogether on the back side. It is tough to nail through any surface where you...

Easy Painting Stand for OT12

I like to be able to paint my OT12 Speakers all at one time. I am a contractor and as a consequence I have a lot of 5 gallon empty joint compound buckets around and I use them for everything. It turns out that an inverted bucket makes a nice painting stand for an OT as shown in the picture. I paint ...

Microphone Stand Vacuum Holder

Most of us folks on the forum not only have woodworking shops of whatever size but also a lot of sound equipment that we usually don't use while we are in the workshop. I was working recently on a non audio project, mortising in some hinge cups for kitchen cabinets when I needed to set up my shop va...

Inexpensive Effective Lightweight Track Saw Table

trak saw table.JPG A few months ago I purchased a trak saw for my building business and of course to help me build speakers. It quickly became evident that I needed some kind of table to support the work and that would provide clearance for the cut through on the trak saw blade. I wanted something ...

Re: Table Tuba Build Caulk Gunning

Great looking build. Back to the great idea from djphatman re wrapping the caulk tube. I tried to do the same thing but with stainless hose clamps around the tube and it worked very well. The clamps fit right into the caulking gun and are easily removable and reusable. When you release the tension t...

Benj. I see the Dewalt portable saw in your picture. I have found mine to be an extremely good tool and capable of very precise work too. I hardly use my Ryobi B300 anymore.

Who is the manufacturer of the scaffolding under the OT12 stacks, and what is their size?

Re: Yamaha 166 CX vs Alesis Sudio 32

I also owned one, purchased used, for a while and I did not like it for live since it had quite a few quirky characteristics and it was a bit noisy. My sense was that it would be better for recording. The Yamaha MG or an Onyx are probably better bets for you either new or used. In the end I guess it...

Interesting article on gain staging

I recently came across an interesting article from Meyer labs on the calibration of cinema sound systems, typically using pink noise. this is the article if you are interested. I need a few more reads to get it. http://meyersound.com/pdf/cinema_technical_papers/cinema_calibration_tech_report.pdf In ...

Check out using the straps to lift them and move them into position. They have been a lifesaver.

Re: Moving Subs

I built two caster boards to move around my four T39 subs. This works out well since casters don't either add to the overall height or make it hard to get a tight pack. I am always worried about attaching anything to the subs to avoid any chance of air leaks. What I did instead was to wrap two 2&quo...

Re: Outdoor Events Review, OT12 and T39

I will try to post some pics but all I have is a quick shot of the first band and the speakers stacked on each corner of the stage. Kind of boring. Recent update from the Department of Parks, there were 5000 people at the event. Not all of them were listening to the music but we had a substantial cr...
