Re: How many different designs have you built?

Sofar only built a TTLS. Gonna be building more though. Not sure if it'll be two SLAs or TLAHs, curved SLA, auto tuba, probably another TTLS and sooner later DR200s to replace the front channels.

Re: First build: Table Tuba LS

Sorry for taking so long to update. After listening to it for a couple weeks. I am loving it. I still need to box in the amp but the subwoofer is finished and I will post a couple pics later.

Re: SLA and Tuba 18 build

Looks nice. My TTLS is almost ready for staining. I know what you mean about the MI winters. I did all the cutting out in the garage and then brought the parts inside and assembled it in the living room.

It's the digital one, the only DB meter Radio shack has. No model number.

Re: First build: Table Tuba LS

Does anyone know of a free program for doing frequency sweeps to produce SPL charts? Something that doesn't need a pricey calibrated mic. I have the Radio shack sound level meter if that helps any. Maybe a program that uses the output on that meter?

Re: First build: Table Tuba LS

Finished assembling cabinet Sunday. First test monday, had leaks at the driver mounting holes. Just had to hear it though, all I can say is wow. I knew a horn was efficient but this really surprised me. Figured a good one to see how it sounds is C&C music Factory's gonna make you sweat (go ahead...

Re: First build: Table Tuba LS

Be forewarned: Baltic birch does not take stain well. I have some tht's that are stained with ebony or black (dont remember now) stain that took 3 coats to darken up. if I get a chance I will get a pic or two for you. Good thing I used Aruaco then isn't it? Thanks for the tip Leland. I will seek ou...

Re: First build: Table Tuba LS

Wow, nice job 67baja. Actually I'm thinking maybe I'll just get the blackest stain I can find. Not wanting to get very elaborate with the finish on the sub. I'll save that for the SLAs I will be building next. I was pricing the veneer and it'd be over $100 for enough to cover the cabinet. I'm thinki...

Re: First build: Table Tuba LS

Assembly is almost finished. Only have the side left to attach and then install the driver. Still haven't quite decided how I'm going to finish the cabinet. Really wanting a dark oak wood grain finish which means about $100 for oak veneer. I could do the panel that will be facing out and the panel s...

Re: First build: Table Tuba LS

It's supposed to be an English Pub Ale, but it's a bit darker than I was expecting. Not a dark beer but almost a honey colored brown I guess.

Re: First build: Table Tuba LS

And, in case anyone is interested, I had my first taste tonight of the beer I'm making. Took a sample out of the fermenting container to check the specific gravity, looking good sofar. And even though it's not bottled and finished I had to taste it. Even though there is no carbonation yet, it had a ...

Re: First build: Table Tuba LS

Thanks for the tip Bill. Never heard them called water pump pliers before though, always called them channel locks, not even my dad called them that and he was a mechanic in the navy during Vietnam and then for the post office. Anyways, more progress. Got panel ten and the braces left to put togethe...

Re: basement building T60s / Omnitops

If you have a router and a guide to keep the router perfectly straight, you could extend the rail channels in the table saw into the table you built around the saw.

Re: basement building T60s / Omnitops

Saw table looks nice. However, you want to get the plans for the panel jig and use that instead. I'm guessing you didn't order the cd and only ordered the plans for the T60 and Omnitops. My suggestion would be to order the Panel Jig plans. While I don't use it myself as I don't have a table saw, it ...

Re: Laminates for cabinet?

Yes I am sure it's not black stained veneer. The boxes are made out of MDF and the laminate is about as thick an tinfoil. I may just use an inexpensive (inexpensive being relative where veneer is concerned) veneer and stain it with a black stain if I can't find the laminate.
