Re: osb for test purpose

Ditto on the "not tryin to be asses to yeh" just trying to save you from yerself  I've tried osb for speaker boxes before and was not pleased at all. It was designed for structural sheathing on walls, like going under siding or stucco, or the real thick stuff as underlayment. It is d...

Re: Vb vs. V(total)

OK, one thing that they might be doing on the sealed boxes is allowing for the stuffing to make up for the lost volume due to bracing, driver mass...etc. If you stuff with about 6-8 ounces per cubic foot, the box will appear 25% larger to the driver. It's a thought...

Re: Table Saw Riddle

A stone and some 3in1 or WD40 will make that table look bran' new. there should be a bolt or two in the fence that will undo most insults of time and travel. There's another to straighten the trunion inside. Those saws can be set to within a gnat's arse-hair of perfection.

Re: Omni 15 and Omni Sub

I don't see an issue with crossing the (aux)Subs at around 100 Hz or so. The trick would be to run an impedance curve in that area to see what the actual impedance at 100 Hz is. I would assume that it is still on the downhill slope from the tuning frequency. (which is all good because the cap & ...

Re: Quality of drawings

Hi welcome aboard (etc) I've been staying out of this one because the tone has been a little more 'edgy' than I prefer. Going by the latter posts you don't seem as condescending as you initially came off as. I'm trying to think of a decent analogy (that's not too inflammatory) to get my point across...

Re: Welfare PA project

http://ratch-h.com/arrayimpedance-revised.html check out the above link for array impedance... an array of 4 per side is ok... but fer a few dollers more: 6 drivers per side gets you 9.6 dB gain instead of 6 dB for 4 the caveat is that the total impedance is about 5.3 ohms, but most amps can handle ...

Re: Welfare PA project

+1 or 5 on the NAT (Nimrod's AT) you can make 'em w/o the cupholders... and the MCM8 can get brutal in a pack of 4 (what I would recommend for what you want) You could use the 1740 in some O10's as a stepping stone to some 2510's if you must (ducks and runs from the inevitable dogpile of outraged se...

Re: Accident - beware of rushing with a table saw...

When I was investigating the Sawstop, (I want) I went through the website and the guy's philosophy is to make it as idiot-proof as possible. there is a replacable (70) cartridge; to stop the saw in time, it slams a chunk of aluminum into the blade- end of the line fer the blade, but yer finger is st...

Oh. My. Goodness. I'm very sorry to hear about that, one more reason fer me to be a paranoid so & so in the shop. I do hope that you get everything back together like before. (I had a run-in with a #10 tin can lid and some fine navy doctors that has the last joint of my pointer finger at a perma...

Another thought: possibly make a couple of the T39's double the width, (32 or 40 W)for the larger venues if you are certain of help with the big gigs. otherwise 16"to 20" are much easier to move. Tim has pics of his daughter carrying a 14 wide T39 and that's not much smaller. I suggest the...

Hi and welcome to the community... From what I hear, you (the one man show) want a system that is scaleable from 50 to 1500 people, and a venue from a small room to outdoors. That is a large order  One thing that will make a difference is your building chops: If you got 'em- go DR; if not- go...

Very interesting experience...as it is turned up and walk around the room I can hear it get louder in some areas of the room (and house) and in other areas it almost disappears. I'm betting that this is exactly what happens in a large ballroom at a variety of different frequencies and this is why i...

Well everyone keeps talking about different kinds of birch, but I don't know how to find any of those. I stopped by the Home Depot to take a look, and all it said was just birch. A single 4x8 1/2" think sheet of "birch" would cost me $29.95. I have no idea what kind it is, but I figu...
