Re: J210 Lite Build

Haven't decided on using the LP filter yet. I will be playing a jazz bass with it that I enjoy the highs. But the intent of this cab is to be used in a band mix so maybe getting the most out of the mid range with the filter is better? The woofers will play higher without the filter, but the high fr...

Re: 50w Cloud amp - too little...?

They'd probably work, but require a power supply, case, jacks and all the other fiddly bits. A used amp is more practical.

Re: Ok, Bill you told me to post here. SLA center channel

It's not going to work. First off, to have enough output to keep up with the SLA using direct radiating woofers you'd need at least two eights. They would have to be subwoofer drivers. The Goldwood GW-408D is not a subwoofer. Then there's the matter of space loading. You're not going to get it havin...

Re: T48 stack

Baltic Birch comes from the Baltic states. One of them is Russia, so that has put a crimp in the supply chain.

Re: T48 stack

Warp is also a matter of the number of plies. Even lauan won't warp, if it's nine ply. If you can't get nine ply half inch just follow the techniques shown in the plans and you'll be OK. I devised those techniques to account for that fact that most plywood does warp. It takes time to make and use gu...

Re: T48 stack

Poplar is very good, with lots of plies and minimum weight. But it's not easy to find. Where bending is concerned that's also a matter of plies, you only want three. There are plywoods made for bending, they have the grain on the same axis with all the plies, but in the thicknesses we use they're no...

Re: T48 stack

Softwoods are OK if they are at least 5 ply. Most 1/2" softwoods are only 4 ply.

You could make your own laminated 2x4s from 3/4" plywood. Use a circular saw sled to insure straight cuts.

+1. Bass reflex speakers unload below the tuning frequency, where the port output and cone output cancel each other. Sealed rear chamber speakers don't. The THT has a sealed rear chamber.

The midbass sensitivity is on the low side, but otherwise it looks OK. OTOH I don't see anything special about them.

Do it outdoors to remove the room from the result, on axis and 45 degrees off-axis.
