Re: DR300 Settings

With a 100Hz crossover it can take 90v, which will give around 135dB. At a paltry 120dB, which takes only 18v,you can cross as low as 70Hz and not even reach half of xmax. If 120dB is all you needed DR250 would have been plenty.

Re: Compression horn tips, tricks

My line of thinking on the subject is that it's okay every builder or potential builder to think through and make any modification they wish to the plans, with or without the assistance and feedback from outside sources. You're certainly free to do that. If you've got the necessary skills and tools...

Re: Voltage limit

Piezos are rated for 25v, which gets doubled by having two banks in series, and the high pass filter gives some more capacity as well. I cant see running more than 40v into an OTop 12, that's enough to reach 125dB. For that matter 30v gets you to 120dB, which is pretty freaking loud.

Re: Otop Jarray drivers - need to decide

There's no advantage to the Basslite other than the 3.4 pounds. Going to the Delta Pro 12-450 would increase sensitivity, especially in the mids.

Re: Throat Filler Mark Up

The closer the filler is to the cone shape the better, but don't go nuts over it.

Re: OmniTop 8 Driver question

The high Qts gives less midrange sensitivity than the Beta 8, a lot less than the Delta Pro 8. I'd try a pair in one, you can always replace them with Betas or DPros.

Re: Compression horn tips, tricks

I'd say closer to 5-8 pounds, as it's only the outer pieces.

shouldn’t I limit them to 80-90v either way? That’s what I have been doing.
Why, when 80v into 10 ohms is 640 watts, 80v into 14 ohms is 460 watts ?

How many 12c's can i have the same amount as lab12s?
The same. What limits output is driver displacement, which is the same for both. But you can't use both on the same amp, because they have to be limited to different voltages. Using both was a bad idea, but too late to fix that now.

+1, looks good, but I doubt you'll get through one service before someone points out that you set them up 'wrong'. :noob:

The weight savings with 1/4" wouldn't be enough for me to bother with it.
