Don't use coaxial drivers, use recommended drivers in the plans with a flat tweeter array. Unless your friend is in a heavy metal bluegrass band a pair of 1x10 should be plenty.

I've done some research and the FR would need to be around 40-4k. Standup bass doesn't go as low as electric bass, and it goes much higher as well, by about an octave in both cases. That means the power bandwidth is more like 80-8kHz. This assumes he's using a natural upright tone, and not using EQ...

High passing at Fb isn't a bad idea, not only to prevent driver over-excursion but also to keep the sound on stage from being too muddy.

I had that problem early on, until I learned how little you should be using, and that you must cap the tube immediately after laying down the bead.

Unless you're the one operating them limiting will do you no good, the people using them will find a way to change it. Never loan or rent out anything you won't mind getting back broken.
