I thought I remember someone giving fiberglass panels a go, but not sure it ever got finished.
Give it a go! maybe try a smaller design like the auto tuba first. I still think that the driver mounting ring would want to be plywood though.

Looking reeeaal nice !
You’ll be rockin in no time
You mentioned Tuba 45. Have you thought about a driver yet? You might consider something a little beefier than that Dayton amp. I picked up a very nice used QSC amp locally for the same price, for what it’s worth.

Re: bi amping an cabling
For what's it's worth, I used to run all my BFM gear as bi-amped (DR200's) but have since downsized to a pair of OT8's which have a passive crossover in. I can't tell a difference though bi amping was fun to mess around with and I got by with a very small amplifier too for the high freq section (50W...

He's stoked!
We're still working on our practice snare as well, quarter and eight notes, which are not his favorite, but then he gets top play on this

Try unplugging just one.
Make sure they are not playing out of phase with each other

Re: DIY room treatment
oh those are some good options to explore as well.
The first few rounds will be fun, because it is loud... theeen we are going to possibly need some solution to keep things under control

Re: DIY room treatment
Oooo this is a great idea! I have several ADJ Pocket Scans that I can program to change color when he hits the kick, for example. We do have a large area rug in there, 10’ x10’ and we could use heavier curtains anyway. Our local Home Depot has the Rockwool safe n sound insulation, but which open wea...

Re: DIY room treatment
I thought I wanted both, but after some reading I see that isolation from the rest of the house would be very difficult. At this time I’m only interested in treating the room. Which…. I get the feeling I’ll need to set everything up in place first, then do some fiddling around. His practice snare dr...

Re: DIY room treatment
This is specifically for that drum kit we got.
We will set it up next month, and I’ll wait until then to determine what all needs done.
Just trying to learn and get ahead of the curve.

How does one know where exactly to place room treatments, and what type to place where?
I suspect RTA ing the room would identify peak areas?

DIY room treatment
I’ve watched a few videos and read up on a few articles, with the basic idea down. Has anyone here built their own panels to hang? Looking for a reasonable cost material to pack in the panels. I’ve seen recycled denim insulation and recycled foam insulation? Looks dense enough, but can’t seem to fin...

Ahhhh yes I gotcha.
In fact we just replaced the head on his practice snare this weekend, with his instructor.

Re: Tama - Imperial Star drum set
Picked it up today, the couple selling it were super friendly. The kit is almost like new condition, there’s barely any marks on the drum heads, and the finish is MINT! It looks fabulous. Sounds really nice too. Needs a tube up and some carefully placed moongels or some dampeners. It’s currently sto...

Re: Tama - Imperial Star drum set
It does come with everything the original kit contained, so their house brand HCS cymbals.
In this case a high hat, crash and ride. Not 100% sure the sizes.
