Re: PEAVEY IPR 1600
We bought one shortly after they started shipping and it had the protection mode problem. Would shut down early and often. Based on Brent's advice I contacted Peavey and they said just send it back and we will fix it - no worries. Took about 2 weeks from door to door. I haven't had a chance to use i...

Pretty cool! I am seriously sick of all the cords running on and around the stage.

Re: Lights under 1k
This is exactly what we want to do. I just scored 8 Par 56s and two dimmer packs off Craigslist for use as front lighting. My plan is to build a case much like yours to hold the pars mounted on the Tbars so we can just unpack and stick them on the light stands for quick and easy set up. I am concern...

Re: SAC where we at?
We use SAC with a system similar to yours just a bit smaller. Two Dr250 tops and two T39 subs. Since I already had a dual core machine sitting around our whole system cost something like $1,500 ($500 SAC, $450 for 3 ADA 8000, $225 for sound card). Thanks to Brent for getting us started with SAC. I b...

Re: Lights under 1k
We mounted ours vertically on our speaker stands using zip ties. Works great except for the harshness of the lights. Indoors they are almost too bright for the singers so I dim them to 50-75%. I have not seen light stand side bars for sale by themselves, but it seems they would be very simple to mak...

Re: Lights under 1k
Hi Leland, We were in a similar situation last year - we needed lights for our OldGuy R&R band and wanted to keep costs as reasonable as possible. We also wanted to keep our power consumption needs low as well. Here is what we ended up with ADJ Dura-Truss System with 3 5 foot sections - ~$300 Fo...

Re: Sanded Plywood 4-layers?
After some search, I came across Woodcraft (http://www.woodcraft.com), they sell Baltic Plywood/. There's a store near my area; I'm going to check them out and see if they have the size I need. I will stop by Lowe's as well to see if they have the Arauco plywood. I'll check out their prices. I buy ...

Re: How to cut handles?
Leland used to sell a template for the handle cutouts but I don't see it any more on SpeakerHardware so maybe he has none left. I followed the instructions in the plans using a 1 1/2" bit and then connecting the holes. For me it is also hit or miss. Some come out perfect, others notsomuch. Sinc...

Re: Crown XLS 602, pair of T48s on channel 2, paralleled?
I can think of no reason why it would ever be advantageous to use the volume knob on an amp. As a general statement, I would rather control distortion by sending as little input as possible (obviously enough to have good signal strength) and maximize the ouput. When we have the volume knobs on the ...

Re: Top Hat
I just installed an adjustable top hat in one of our DR250s last night. It was pretty straight forward but the cutout is quite a bit larger for the adjustable than the regular TH. One thing I am still trying to figure out is the stand hole diameter. The top hats I previously bought were 1 3/8" ...

Re: New DR280 and extra something
http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=398 I don't understand this part of the sticky: "Placement of the subs and mains will change their phase relationships, so test it with every new venue or change of speaker placement." If the subs and tops are in phase, aren't they...
