Re: Wireless Microphones
So is each microphone paired with it's reciever alone? So if in the future I wanted to add a lavalier/lapel mic to the setup would I have to buy another set of the reciever and transmitter/mic, or could I just buy the lavalier mic/transmitter of the same brand/series and pair it with the existing re...

Wireless Microphones
Hey guys, I've finally decided it's time for a wireless microphone but have no experience with them. I don't need much range, but it's easier to give a mic to the head table at a wedding than to ask people to come up to the DJ booth. Any suggestions on what to look for or what to avoid? I'd like to ...

Re: Sensitivity
Isn't that mostly a transformer issue? I don't work with car audio often, but if line in for the amp is 12V, doesn't that mean the lack of high-voltage output is mostly by design? Transformers don't work with DC. Ah, is the term I'm looking for DC converter or a step-up converter? I really don't kn...

Re: Sensitivity
Ah ha! Inflated numbers! How dare they :horse: Lots of car audio folks do that type of thing. They use low resistance drivers and amplifiers to get more amperage out of the equipment. If it's actually stable at that level I guess it's okay, but it's certainly a little misleading to the rest of the ...

Re: Designing Speakers with four corner triangular ports
they have the same internal volume That's your answer right there. :P Generally, people often say a 'golden ratio' of dimensions minimizes internal resonances the best, but realistically, just try to avoid making a cube and brace/stuff it well enough to dampen the rest. As long as the internal volu...

What's the speaker you're using? If the output/extension isn't critical sealed is certainly an easier route, but it's not that much work to add ports if the driver is good for ported enclosures.

Re: Designing Speakers with four corner triangular ports
For the tuning frequency you've chosen, calculate minimum port area necessary (using the calculator I've linked), and plug it back in to find the length needed: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 That's about it. Play with the calculator and do some math. It's a good learning experienc...

Re: The journey begins.. 16 T60's and 12 DR280's!!
My figures assume that both the operator and audience are sane, and don't have ambitions of going prematurely deaf. :noob: To be fair, even one DR can cause serious hearing damage so it's totally up to the user how much hearing they want to loose; which is why whenever the wife and I go out we usua...

130dB @ 40hz center of dance floor would be the ideal target, maybe 134dB for headliners. I'm sure his system could do that on the lowest settings  Yeah, I about laughed when I saw 110db since a system like that is pretty much enough for a small music festival 130db more like. That rig is ...

Re: Any tips on buying a table saw??????
I'd first decide how much room you want to devote to the tablesaw, and that will help narrow things down a good bit. There are 4 major styles from smallest to largest: -Jobsite Saws (like the porter cable linked above) -Contractor Saws (Like jobsite but don't fold up) -Hybrid -Cabinet Saw Any of the...

I have an Xti2000 and you do indeed just stick the probes into the appropriate binding posts, don't mess around with the speakon jacks, just use the binding posts. I unscrewed them, put the probes into the holes, and loosely tightened them back down. Agreed with everything else mentioned, don't try ...

Depending on the design of the horn aspect, an horn without any EQ I'd imagine. Although, it might act more like a resonator. Who knows.Chris_Allen wrote:and what would it sound like?

Re: Mini SLA's
If this is for a restaurant, a THTLP or TTLS isn't exactly the best option. It'd work but there aren't many advantages in this use because either one reaches far lower than you really want/need for a restaurant and as such they are bigger than a comparable pro-sub and you won't gain anything useful ...

Re: Let me introduce you to "THE KRAKEN"
Dang, it looks like they used to have a dozen T36's and swapped them for the T60's. I guess they must be doing pretty well!
It's too bad they're out in Portland, I'd love to hear that. Why are all the big T60 rigs not in the midwest? *pout*
