Re: Speaking of Carvin...

Carvin XD88 is now discontinued (I just got off the phone with them). A different piece of gear will be available sometime this summer.

One lawyer=2-3,000 speakons? Not giving speakons enough credit.

Plus, speakons are made in Lichtenstein. Dude! How cool is that?

And (if you're hamhanded like me) way too much texture far too quickly.

But once you get it figured out you're golden and your cabs are blackened.

Re: Pair of Jack 10s

For an undramatic finish, I use yellow foam rollers from Home Despot. They have maybe 3/8" of "nap." I'm thinking of ordering some gray poly foam rollers from Woodworker's Supply ( http://www.woodworker.com ). They have less "nap" and might could waste less duratex. The yell...

Tiny Titan Tools...er, tiny tools for Titans

I just finished a run of T48s, and thought a thread on tools might be useful for newer builders. I mean hand tools, really--saws, special clamps, odds and ends. We've had threads like this in the past, but it might be time to start another. What made me think of this were some of my glue-up tools, e...

Don't want to ever have to change the sheets? I'm just saying........
Makes the sheets too crunchy.

Re: Hole saw lifespan

It might be your drill, but hand-drilling with a hole saw's not just hard work for you--unless you've got awesome steady hands and can drill at true right angles, you're making your hole saw work harder than it ought. For big holes, use a jig saw or even a coping saw, and save hole saws for smaller ...

Re: Hole saw lifespan

Slow as your drill press will go. Hole saws are the subwoofers of drills--they eat up loads of power. Need lots of torque. Feed rate--slooow. I back out the hole saw frequently, and drill about halfway through, then flip the workpiece over and drill through from the other side. Keeps the saw much co...

Re: otop 15

The 450 should be RMS. 2xRMS seems like industry standard for "program" or "music" power ratings.

Re: Guideboard lengths?

Yes.

You want them long enough to do what you want them too, but short enough so they don't get in the way. I'm not sure how long mine are, myself.

Re: Does anyone have a preferred table saw?

I really like my Home Despot Ridgid table saw. Very stable, big table, good fence. $550 or so. Look for sales.

Re: New Crown XTI Amps

I'm with Leland and Ron on this. What we end users think of as "street price" is almost always the MAP. Sometimes a reputable dealer can offer you--but WON'T advertise--a somewhat better deal. If you can, check online sellers (Musicians Friend, z-zounds, etc.): their prices are going to be...

I love the shedua. It's hard to see from the photo--is the fretboard INSET or is it very wide binding? Looks very nice, however you did it.

melded array gluing jig tip

Gluing melded arrays on the right angle jig is easy, unless, like me, you tend to get the waxed paper or plastic wrap you're using as a barrier between jig and array stuck between two otherwise nicely glued piezos. If I didn't manage this EVERY time, it wouldn't be a problem. So with the current arr...
