Re: A Good Day in the Shop - Melded Array Jigs

I just cut the DR200 butt cheeks, both panels together (BB), in one pass with a spiral upcut. 1/2" shank and cutter.

Re: A Good Day in the Shop - Melded Array Jigs

My line of thinking was removing the cuttings from the work as I progress around the circle. I make about 3 passes and increase the plunge depth at each pass, to avoid stressing the bit. I use an up cup bit, mostly because I can't find my down cut bit. :? I guess the only place a down cut bit makes...

Yes.

An upcut bit would normally be used when the router is upside down, eg. when using a router table. The idea is to exhaust the chips away from your face and work. I like to use 1/2 shank router bits, a lot beefier.

Re: Biscuit Jointer vs. Brad Nailer

Don't overlook Rigid either, they have an excellent warranty. Ridgid has a huge reputation in certain industrial tools, for example, pipe wrenches, threading machines, ridge reamers, sewer augers, etc. When I saw a few years ago Ridgid coming out with tools marketed to the home owner/small contract...

Re: Cutting the edges @ angles

I use a circular saw and guide boards. I clamp the guide board and piece to be cut to the work bench and run the along on top of the guide. This works for cuts up to 45 degrees. For cuts larger than 12", I prefer not to use my little table saw.

Re: Biscuit Jointer vs. Brad Nailer

Need a recommendation: the missus got me a Craftsman jointer for xmas... but I'm not sure it is the one I need for cabinet work. It does 7/32 to 1/2 biscuits, which seems more appropriate for jointing 2x4 that baltic birch, etc. It only comes with 1/2" biscuits, so I have to buy a stash of thi...

Re: DJ FroZone has arrived with a barrage of questions

Hey, I remember those pictures. Liked it so much, I copied your idea . Ha, the only problem with your posed shot is that if you cut the inner circle first, you're screwed! You're right. I'm sitting here scratching my head trying to figure why I did that, even though I don't remember doing it twice....

I can't help but notice you're using carpenters glue, will you be using PL Premium for the next build?
