Re: THT initial impression disappointing?
I fired it up briefly today low passed at 80hz and hooked up 1 tower speaker to hear what was going on. Too high. Set it lower, otherwise the rising response will be walking all over the rest of the system. Try somewhere's between 40-60 Hz, and make sure that tower speaker gets high-passed at 80 or...

Re: THT initial impression disappointing?
Test conditions: fired into corner of room, 8’ ceiling, 16’ x 23’. Room treatment, Apple Music from my MacBook Pro through an arcam Dac and a couple of clips from movies on Prime video and Netflix. Have not checked for leaks but can if necessary (I’d be extremely surprised if there were leaks with ...

THT initial impression disappointing?
So I finally banged out 1 of 2 THT original plans 2+ years in the making while collecting dust. Baltic Birch, PL, Dayton RSS, roughly 36x36x36”. Powered by a crown power amp. I fired it up briefly today low passed at 80hz and hooked up 1 tower speaker to hear what was going on. It’s not in its final...

Re: Autotuba/Floorstanding speaker worklog with pics.
Update, unfortunately I currently don't have the funds for the plate amps. Those will have to go on hold for a while along with the covers for the bottom cabs. Initial testing tells me that the top cabs play loud and clear, bass is tight and punchy but can go quite low (Top cabs alone would probably...

Re: Autotuba/Floorstanding speaker worklog with pics.
Actually, I knocked one up against the door frame pretty hard when I was moving them into the room. I got lucky and couldn't find a scratch anywhere

Re: Autotuba/Floorstanding speaker worklog with pics.
O.k.,O.k. I'm lazy with updates but I am closer to completion! I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel... might be a train lol. Since my last post I've managed to get down 3 coats of Varathane Super gloss lacquer, with 80+ hours of sanding thereafter (400,800,1200,1500,2000 grit wet san...

LOL! I didn't know what you guys were talking about until I took a better look at my pics. Those are my dad's plants he brings in during the winter to keep them from dying. There not what you think...djohnson573 wrote:I was thinking the same thing.Rickisan wrote:oh yeah... nice foliage... lol

Re: Autotuba/Floorstanding speaker worklog with pics.
As promised Updates! Compromises have been made in design, but I've pretty much completed speaker #1, It just needs some cosmetic work (Filler and a good pass with the router) Unfortunately paint will have to wait until summer when it's warm and I can do it outside. I'm still undecided on what type ...

Re: Autotuba/Floorstanding speaker worklog with pics.
Hmmm, I live on the west side of montreal with about 4 hardware stores nearby. Everytime I ask about BB they give me a confused look lol. I guess I'll have to ask a cabinet maker for future projects, where they get their materials. I do have a question though, I have one cab almost completed at the ...

Re: Autotuba/Floorstanding speaker worklog with pics.
mastertee31, I will assume that you live in a fairly populated area. Are there kitchen cabinet makers in your area? I'll bet there is. Stop in one day and ask them where they get the high grade plywood that they use. You might even be able to work out buying from them, saving you run around time an...

Re: Autotuba/Floorstanding speaker worklog with pics.
These are some pics of previous projects I've done: (I've learned something new from every single one) The only picture I have of my bookshelfs unfortunately: (The orange peel you see is from applying the primer with a roller, this time everything will be done with a HVLP gun) http://i23.photobucket...

Re: Autotuba/Floorstanding speaker worklog with pics.
When looking a the pics, I have to wonder. Is this a another case of a guy who's built a few cabinets 'knowing a better way', or is it a case of a guy with enough experience to know how to make changes to the plans and properly compensate for those changes? Looks like he has the tools and ability t...
