Using an 8" MCM for home theatre
I plan to use the above driver that I removed from a very successful T18 to fashion a sub for our new home. I was planning on using the innards of a Creative Stage soundbar to power the sub and mains - I have gutted a pc speaker system to build a frankenspeaker in the past as well, so I know it work...

Re: Our last performance....
Really enjoyed the whole gig. It is obvious that you perform well together, let alone the fact that you are good friends. Agree that the bass playing was very complimentary to the rest of the band. Seemed effortless.
Thanks for posting.

Re: TLAH Pro Repair
Update: I managed to gently prize the two sections apart laterally enough to brush a thin bead of PL glue down nearly the whole length of the join. Lots of nice frothing going on prior to clamping them up. I hope it is going to be enough but....so far, so good. I had a quick look at the wiring and t...

Corona - I will also run a bead of something down the inside edge to "belt and brace" any adhesive fix I make. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: TLAH Pro Repair
Thanks for those suggestions. Tom - I did gently test each cone when it happened. Unfortunately, one of them seemed to be rubbing a little. Does this mean it could be damaged? Time will tell when I start it up after repair and give it the audio litmus test, I suppose. Has anyone tried forcing some P...

TLAH Pro Repair
Hi! I built the above speaker as per plans a couple of years ago and have been a happy camper since then. However, yesterday the speaker was knocked over (thankfully no-one was near it when it came down off of its 1 foot high top hat stand - it is floor standing). The back panel has separated from t...

Re: Coffee House PA Advice Needed
If it helps, I used a T18 as a low end enhancer for several years in a church service environment (keys, guitars , v-drums , mic'd cahon, mic'd congas, mic'd bodhran etc) plus at coffee shops and free-to-view film screenings in large rooms (30ft X 60ft) and it was plenty loud enough to be heard over...

Re: Mongrel TLAH Pro demo
Thanks again. If you want to see some of this luthiers work (and who play his guitars) go to his site : http://www.georgelowden.com/page4/page30/artists.html Having heard my friends acoustic the Martin, which up until then I loved the tone of, sounds bland (ok it cost a quarter of the price I guess)...

Re: Mongrel TLAH Pro demo
Tom, Our old system consisted of a single, tall. thin column design housing 32 full range 2" Tangband W2-852SE drivers in a 2ohm arrangement coupled to a T18 for low frequency response. The drivers were stacked from floor level up to approx 7 foot high. Efficiency was excellent and, for whateve...

Mongrel TLAH Pro demo
Short video of the BFM TLAH Pro I recently built (See this thread http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=19827) Recorded on a Zoom H2n to try to improve on the camera's internal mic. You will notice the (cough) ambience of the room that we have to work with. It actually sounds a ...

Re: TLAH PRO (mongrel) build.
The new speaker had it's "pilot" run out this morning. I set up both systems (the existing one and the new TLAH Pro) next to each other in the pre-service prep time. The old system was prepared as per normal and I then sent an aux feed from the desk to a small monobloc amp ( approx 80-100 ...

Re: TLAH PRO (mongrel) build.
Not much of an update but I did get the frame for the speaker cloth prepared yesterday. Rather than cutting / routing my spare bit of plywood from the original sheet into lengths to then mitre and join together, I decided (since the spare bit was exactly the same dimensions as the baffle) to rout it...
