Re: Walsh double Ohm
True, I didn't mean to imply they were the same, just had some overall similarities. My Hegemans are on a shelf, but from what I could feel way back by the basement wall, mine didn't seem to have a bottom slot. Weird. Do you think the wider but slightly shallower dips at 490, 1200 and 2100 would hav...

Re: Modern driver options for Table Tuba build?
Whoops. Since I wasn't looking for a source from which to actually BUY one, I did the most cursory of searches. First one I saw was on Amazon, not the best source for the best price on electronics.

Re: Modern driver options for Table Tuba build?
My first build was the Auto-tuba with the MCM 55-2421, which was a mere $35 at the time, now $75. I chose that driver on purpose as the advertised "cheap ass driver" that produces amazing bass - and it does. Question: I see its QTS is way at the low end of the range, .219, while several of...

Re: Walsh double Ohm
Yeah, I was PRETTY sure that was incorrect lol. I bought a pair of Hegeman omnis, and they have really good sound, in my opinion. I thought I remembered reading that they utilized various length or width rectangular Hemholtz resonators to achieve the bass, but now all I'm seeing is that they're a ve...

Walsh double Ohm
We don't commonly discuss other brands of speakers much here, but I think you'll agree with me that these are something... different. I don't get the vibe that these are snake oil / audiofool / or just plain junk, but I'm also still quite the novice. What do you make of the Walsh Ohms, specifically ...

Grauman's Chinese theater tech history
There are pages and pages (LONG pages!) of the history of the audio, visual, studio battles with GE, Western Electric, etc here.

Re: In line, real time voltage meter
The eBay seller said he makes these himself, and that if a Neutrik Speakon fit the current item dimensions, then he COULD use one, instead. He also said that due to "several reasons", the values would be all over the place. (Partly because he admitted the meters he's using aren't a precisi...

In line, real time voltage meter
I wondered if, in addition to measuring voltage output from the onset, one could use an inline meter to continuously monitor amp voltage output, and found this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134668199054 "Voltmeter For Neutrik Powercon • Digital Line Tester • Theater, TV. This is a lo-res volt meter...

Re: Speakercable in T48
No. You don't want a thin veneer ply. Baltic Birch has equal plies - Birch doesn't. Nor does oak, maple, etc. It's about the plies, not the species. As usual, a little outside of the box thinking: 1: Since the veneer peels away easily and or with time, what about planing it off or sanding it off? N...

+100. LOVE the Eminence box as that extra, added touch. Hopefully his family gets the subtle reference!
Thanks so much for doing all of this! Are you much out of pocket for all of this?

Re: bass standalone cabs
I highly recommend just spending a bit more for the whole CD of plans. Once you build one design you'll be convinced. It's VERY well worth the small additional price.frances-rhodes wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 5:48 am
I was thinking of buying 3 or 4 plans including some simplexx ones, so great!

Re: Hello from Finland!
But going with the stack of 4 of the same sub yields what gains, not including the v-plate?
