Re: Any experience or knowledge about Carvin amps or Peavey

One thing that seems to be often overlooked about some of these new amps is their crossover specs. Many of them make numerous references to having a built-in crossover, but you have to dig into the manuals to see what you're really getting. Peavey IPR : "100 Hz switchable 2nd order High pass an...

Re: Kustom Tuck-n-Roll Column Revival

Kustom stopped doing the tuck-n-roll some time in the mid-70s, probably due to costs. Since then, they've tried it again a few times, but it hasn't been well-received or long-lived. Another company, called "Plush", made diamond-tuck amps around the same time as Kustom ... vinyl upholstered...

Re: Kustom Tuck-n-Roll Column Revival

Wait, are those things padded? That's amazing... Yes, they're upholstered with tuck-and-roll. In Kustom's early years, all of their amps and cabs were made like that. It was a love/hate thing; some guys liked them, some not so much. Their cabs came with CTS drivers, but they also had Altecs and JBL...

Re: Kustom Tuck-n-Roll Column Revival

Thanks, Leland. Yeah, the ID badges are still on the backs, saying they were made in Chanute. Sorry I didn't have them order everything but the speakers from you (speakers were from MCM). I didn't realize that you have access to all of the PE stuff til it was too late. Great to know since I'll be ne...

Kustom Tuck-n-Roll Column Revival

When one of my best friends told me that his new, upstart church desperately needed speaker cabs, I offered my old Kustom columns. They ordered all of the needed new components, they finally all arrived, then he asked me if there was any way that we could have them done for Easter services, which wa...

Re: Listening in the band

Do you ever JUST play with the drummer? Maybe the two of you just haven't found that GROOVE together yet (?). If he doesn't want to hear you (as you said), maybe it's because he's not excited about hearing the two of you playing together. The only way to possibly overcome that is to flat-out jam wit...

Re: Cinema T-6 DIY Tapped Horn

You've posted on this forum over 250 times. Why not make your first horn build a BFM design? I'd be willing to place a wager that an MCM-loaded AT will blow the doors off of the one you're considering.

If he's that interested in music, start teaching him an instrument. I started guitar at 5.

Re: 16ohm Speaker Project for Rhodes Piano

The two J12s would cover all of your described needs perfectly, as far as a dual cab solution. If you need a system larger than that, you'll need more than that 50w per channel amp.

As for a single stereo cab, Bill doesn't currently offer that type of design.

Re: 36 wide t48 castors and handle mod

You'll hate the casters on big cabs real quick, especially once you've scarred-up your newly-built cabs going up and down some stairs. A good handtruck with big tires is ABSOLUTELY the way to go, for a lot of reasons.

Re: 16ohm Speaker Project for Rhodes Piano

Is there a 16ohms speaker in existence that will work in one of Bill's cabinet designs? I have a Rhodes Janus I that requires a 16ohm load for each channel. Maybe, if you can still find them. Eminence made a Beta-12B (16 ohms), but discontinued it a couple of years ago. You may still be able to fin...

Re: recommendations for a 15" speaker for sealed bass-guitar

My son's rig was a 2x15 cab and a 4x6 cab. I took the 6"ers out and built two cabs for two 6"ers each. Sounded great for rehearsal, but at the gig it sucked. The 6"ers went back into the 4x6 cab right after that one gig. It was THAT bad. Not onstage so much, but out front. The crossov...

27" will be easier to get through smaller doorways ... 30" may be a squeeze for some.
