Re: T48 Rattle/Buzz

I had a similar problem with a T39. I cut the hole driver spacer too small and the cone was hitting it. Might want to pull the driver and check.

Re: Can I Do It? DR250

OK then! Thanks for the encouragement! I know from experience that if I follow the plans, use my scetchup model, and the build threads, and ask questions here, I’ll get all the help I could want. As soon as I finish my current build I’ll get a plan update and start reading. I may decide to omit usin...

Can I Do It? DR250

I’m just a little afraid and need a little confidence booster. I’m considering trying to build a pair of DR’s, but the build threads look pretty complicated. I’m not a complete novice and have build a lot of Bill’s designs: T39, T48, OT12, XF212, WH10, WH8. I expect the build will take significantly...

Re: Piezo very weak

I should add that I am not aware of any specific incidence of abuse, dropping, etc., but I'm not ruling anything out as others in the crew often handle and operate the system and they do get hauled around in the back of a trailer.

Piezo very weak

Seeking some knowledge on what might have happened to my piezo arrays. I just finished building two OT12, and bought two more used from a forum member so that I now have a total of 8, four with straight arrays and 4 with melded. Since I set up to test the new pairs, I went ahead and tested all of th...

Re: OT 12 build

Spent some time testing and listening this weekend. Adjusted my EQ curves and verified limiters for the T48s while I was at it. Snapped this shot of the Otop family. I did buy one pair from a forum member, but built the other 3 pairs. I took the time to replace the grills and corners, and rolled on ...

Re: OT 12 build

I was able to basically finish these cabs this weekend! I just have to wait for some new metal grills to arrive and I haven't done more than some quick testing to ensure they work but will put a measurement mic on them sometime over the next couple of weeks to make sure everything is in spec. Here's...

Re: OT 12 build

It is an attached garage and insulated, so it does stay a little warmer than a completely unheated structure. I was able to bring the cabs inside to Shewhomustbeobeyed craft room last night and got them nice and toasty for a few hours. Then I broke out the Bondo. The smell resulted in me getting exp...

Re: OT 12 build

I might have jumped the gun a bit on "building season" here in central Illinois. It was actually snowing yesterday! I did manage to cut and install the grill mounts working in my unheated garage last night and now I'm hoping that the PL actually cures. High temp today is only about 38F. It was in th...

Re: OT 12 build

Installed the backs prior to prepping for finish. I actually had a "bit" of trouble with this step... I broke two drill bits while drilling the pilot holes and countersinking.

Re: OT 12 build

Not bad progress for a weekend! I plan to eventually build two more of these later this year which will give me 8 total. That should give me enough for a nice sized outdoor event.
